How to Break a Fast

Published Friday, April 23, 2010 By admin. Under How to detox?  Tags: Basmati Rice

Fasts should be broken very carefully or you could undo all the good you’ve done and make yourself really sick. Start out with veggie juices, diluted fruit juices, whole cooked fruit combined with spicy/digestive teas to wake up the digestive system.

Start adding whole, cooked foods such as basmati rice flavored with heating spices like cumin, ginger, garlic, cloves; vegetarian soups garnished with just a bit of oil. Hot cereals are also good, they allow you to add a bit of flax oil to get the liver revved up and cinnamon to wake up the stomach. Move up to steamed or stir-fried veggies with rice, then the protein shake.
