If you have been diagnosed with an abnormally large thyroid, or if your thyroid has cysts of some kind, then you have a problem with your posture that is impairing circulation.
The thyroid is a very blood-rich gland, it has to accept new blood and excrete the blood full of thyroid hormones. It is also connected to the lymphatic system, another circulatory system but one that is dependent on body movement as it has no heart.
If our collarbones are out of place because our shoulders are stooped, or if our necks don’t have the proper curve to them so that it seems like we have no throat around the Adam’s apple area (this area should protrude, a healthy neck curve means an aggressivelly forward neck), this means that the thyroid is unable to drain blood and lymph at the same rate that it accepts it and so it gets larger.
A visit to the chiropractor will help identify any subluxions in the neck area, and neck stretches are highly recommended. They’re awkward but worth it – you have to prop up your neck so your head falls backwards. You should feel the pull in the ligaments that go from collarbone to chin.
It is very easy to massage the thyroid, neck muscles and lymph nodes in the neck. Just “pinch” the skin gently between thumb and bent forefinger (use the second knuckle of the index finger) as your hand goes up and then down the side of the neck. Start at the bottom of the neck almost at the front, pinch the fleshy area only, then as you move up, move diagonally, towards the ears, still keeping to the fleshier area.
