|
|
When you're rebuilding, tonifying, trying to make up for years of bad diet, here are some foods to eat. They are especially good for recovering from debilitation and will go a long way to keeping you youthful and active well into your golden years. They are essential for mothers, both before during and after pregnancy.
This list is in addition to the usual recommendations of cod liver oil, Emergen-C, Protein Shake with extra eggs, Bieler Broth, Potassium Broth, Juicing, coconut oil, coconut milk, raw milk, goat milk, creme fraiche, fermented foods, lecithin, wild game, etc.
These foods are also what I call 'beyond dosha.' They are good to accent or at least include regularly no matter what your dosha is because no matter what your body type they have nutrients that you need.
BEEF:
Have once every 7-10 days.
Liver - calves liver from pasture-fed beef. Marinate in lemon juice for several hours, dredge in flour and pan fry on medium heat in a combo of oil/butter. You won't believe how good it tastes. Make a pan gravy with beef broth and balsamic vinegar. Recipe will be in the FAQ soon. You can also enjoy chicken liver so long as it's organic chicken like Rocky, and pate.
Pot Roast or Beef Stew or Gravy - made the old-fashioned way with the bone left in. The bones release gelatin which is essential for absorption and building the harder soft tissues.
Menudo - a Mexican soup made with beef tripe.
SEAFOOD:
Have one serving every 10 days at least.
Caviar - doesn't have to be beluga, it can be paddle fish, salmon roe, or osetra. Great source of iodine, feeds the thyroid.
Oysters - same as above.
Wild River Salmon - one of the best foods you can eat. Since it comes in and out of season, eat it as frequently as you can afford when it's in season.
Kombu - a seaweed that makes a wonderful broth, this broth is used to make Miso soup. Other seaweed and sea veggies are good too.
SUPERFOODS
Have as often as feels right.
Noni Juice
Goji Juice
If you have a food dehydrator, mix equal parts chopped sunflower seeds and raisins and shape into cookies. Dehydrate until crunchy.
Chlorella, Spirulina & Blue-Green Algea. Klamath Lake Blue-Green Algea is best. Or get a super-food supplement like Perfect Food, E3Live.
Oat Straw Tea
Umeboshi Plums
Liquid Chlorophyll - better for you than fresh raw wheatgrass juice.
Herbal/Fruit Concoctions:
Chyawanprash
Amrit
Triphala
VEGETABLES
Eat as often as you feel appropriate, at least 2x a week is good.
