Hi Shelley
this is the first time I have placed a question here but I have followed this forum for a while. I have recently been diagnosed (by a private specialist here in the uk) with candida and Im presently on the diet and taking nystatin (which I find difficult to tolerate) and kyolic garlic. I have had ongoing gastric problems for 3 years now (including bleeding) I have had many tests including a Video Capsule endoscopy in october last year, all revealed nothing. My recent and worst bought that started before christmas is still causing me a lot of problems. Fatique, pain, aches, ringing ears, Not sure but think Im constipated, going every day but its an effort, headaches everyday etc.
my worry is that my lower abdomen below my navel is very disdended and can be painful. the intestines feel lumpy almost solid and disdended.
Has anyone else experienced this? is this a symptom of candida
I went to see the NHS consultant today who has done many tests on me and failed to diagnose anything. I told him about the Candida diagnosis and he said that Candida is not an issue here and that we all have it and that its a fashionable diagnosis!. He looked at my lower abdomen, had a poke around and said he was very concerned about this area and wanted to do an urgent CT scan followed by exploritory surgey!!!
Im shocked by this I dont want them opening me up!!
Should I follow his advice!
Cheers

OH dear, that's a tough decision that only YOU can make. Only you know how much discomfort you are in. Personally I wouldn't, I haven't found invasive surgery to ever be a help with digestive disorders, but if there was a history of cancer in my family or if my white blood cells were raised a lot I'd consider it. But if the colonoscopy didn't show anything, I don't see the point of the procedure.
If I were you I'd go looking for a doctor, preferably naturopathic, who does understand candida and who can do live blood analysis and/or applied kinesiology. Find someone who can use kinesiology to find out why all the distension, which could be simply prolapsed colon. The protocol for prolapsed colon is in the fAQ. It's important to exercise the abs, massage the area back into place, take cold half-baths, sqaut down to eliminate rather than sit up, eat fermented foods, and tone the bowels with aloe vera and Swedish Bitters.
If the pain isn't too bad, I'd start with enemas and colonics right away, and then start taking the fiber shake that I recommend for candida people.
Nystatin never did a thing for me. Money down the drain. |

Hi Shelley,
Thanks for your reply, I have no family history of cancer or IBD and my white blood cell count is ok. After talking to many people including my Doctor the general consensus seems to be "Why" especially as Im starting to get better and put weight back on!
I have been taking bentonite and various other things like Acidophilus tablets and some wonderful concoction from my medical Herbalist. And I really feel as if I have turned a corner this last few days and Im feeling ok.
I have heard various things about getting a colonic done that make me unsure about this procedure. Is it that safe a treatment!
Thanks for your time

If you go to an experienced colonicist and are able to relax, it's quite safe. You can limit the pressure and only take in what feels okay. If your colonoscopy didn't show any divirticulitis you should be okay for a colonic. It's good to get at least one professional one done so that when you do your own home enemas there's much less mystery and uncertainty. For many people, water therapy is safer than psyllium fiber.
The most effective way to flush the intestines is to skip a couple meals (liquid meals okay) and then do a salt water flush first thing in the morning. The only danger with a salt water flush is not salting the water enough so that you absorb it rather than pass it. It's quite thorough and goes in the same direction as the intestines want to go so the body handles it quite easily. |
