| For what it's worth, I've taken this one and I like it. I always took it after chiropractic adjustments and it kept that post-adjustment good feeling around for a while. Generally speaking NOW is a good brand. Solaray has a similar one that is also good. |

Thanks Ryan, that's very sweet of you.
Shelley, I was wondering further, about minerals. There are citrates, malates, picolonates and amino acid chelates, which one is "easier" absorbed?
And since minerals tend to antagonize each other, will the body ever be able to absorb all of the minerals from a mineral complex, like the one from Now (link above)? If that would be the case, then I dont get the idea about mineral complexes.. |

Chelated is usually the best one, with a few minor exceptions. Chromium can be chelated or the pic one, but for best results with hypoglycemia get GTF chromium.
Yep, all minerals antagonize one another. But the body is used to getting a variety of minerals at once and you have feet of intestines ready to absorb based on whatever receptor sites are available. If you need more of one, you'll have more receptor sites. So general mineral supplements are okay, at the very least you keep from getting too high in one and skewing its pair in a bad way.
Taking just the minerals that work with one another is the best of possible worlds, but then you have to buy each and every one separate, which is getting difficult to do. Most vit/min manufacturers are giving up on making individual minerals, which is very annoying. You really have to hunt.
Actually you really have to hunt either way, I have yet to find a really good mineral complex. When I do I'll post it. If I can't find one maybe I'll see what it takes to get one manufactured.
in the meantime, eat/juice/broth lots of parsley, cilantro, kombu, and take supplements of the essential minerals in as many varieties as you can: Emergen-C, NYF, whole grain porridge, caviar, sea salt, nuts, etc. |

Thanks Shelley!
That was very very good to know. IF you do find a good mineral complex, please let me know. Until then, I will try to figure this out somehow with the things I have available.
Cheers! |
