Hi Shelley,
I do believe I may have Ischemia....I have had two "incidents"with
this so far, one in feb. of 1996, and one in feb. of 2000 (almost to
the day!)...and I THINK I may have had another "incident" last nigt.
I was falling asleep, in between sleep and awake, adn suddenly,
I got this "jolt" that flung me into a sitting position, wide awake.
Now, I've had those type of things before....I know that in itself
isnt' ischemia.....but, what followed immediatley was sort of like
what has happened to me before during these "episodes"....
I immediatley reached for my pulse (wrist) to check that because
I have had heart palpations for years now, it stops, starts, skips....
you name it.....so, naturally, I couldn't feel a heartbeat (but obviously
it had to be beating or I'd be dead) but within seconds it began
to pound again, and got harder and harder and faster as well......
O.K., I'm used to that, I've had to deal with that for years....but
I ALSO felt VERY STRANGE AND DETACHED in my HEAD.....my hands
were a little shaky (could have also been from nerves), and there
was this weird feeling on the left side of my head, like the other two
"episodes" ive had with ischemia. It sort of feels "thick", which is
weird I know, but it's the only way I can describe it. It feels like there
are little pin pricks, sort of like when your arm has "fallen asleep"
and when the blood comes rushing back in you get that crazy tickly
pin prick feeling.....well, not as bad, but somewhat. (that's also what
happened to me the other two times as well)......I began to feel very
strange and "thick" down the left side of my neck and throat (again
same as before).....it's not "pain" per se, just a funny feeling in there
and then the front left side of my throat gets weird and seems to
tighten so that it's a little hard to breath for a few minutes, until you
can calm down and sort of relax that. The other two times I had
ischemic episodes I also had a TERRIBLE shaking (which I didn't have
this time) and black or lit up circles around the eyes.....as if you're
looking through a tire.....or a Christmas wreath with lights....that
happens to my vision (but that DIDNT happen this time)........
I was able to immediatley get up out of bed, walk around, think, talk,
get some water etc.........I did that purposley to see if I was alright.
I went back to bed about half hour later, still a little shaky and not
feeling all that well..........I also felt cold. (You should know, that
the first time this ever happened to me, back in '96, I was standing
up next to my bed, and I suddenly collapsed onto the bed, and it
felt like my brain was vibrating and so was my body....and black rigng
appeared around my eyes, as if looking through tires, and it was all
I could do to just stay conscious - this all took place in about a minute or
so, and then passed.....I really felt like I was going to faint. I was
able, however to stay awake....it didn't leave me with any problems, just
a very very weird, distantness for days...) - the second time, I was
DRIVING...lol....thank God I was able to pull over into a parking lot and
get out of the car and walk around to get the blood going all the while
shaking like a leaf.......same symptoms as first.....except that time,
the circle around my eyes was like a very brightly lit Christmas wreath
I was looking through....I was able to drive home after about half and
hour, but shaking all the way......THAT TIME, I was totally detached
and distant for DAYS.....) - this wasn't as bad......but I did feel very
strange today when I woke up, not myself. It felt a little hard to
concentrate and I kept forgetting what I was typing......I felt slightly
lightheaded and off balance as well (same as first two times).......
I spoke to dr. and he said it definatley sounds to him like ischemia....
which is lovley!.......so, Shelley, what can be done for that?
He said to me that this happens when for some UNKNOWN reason
a blood vessel closes and deprives oxygen to that part of the brain.
This is very scarey to me.........I am frightened!......Is there any
natural way to deal with this? He suggested I take MSM supplement
since it has to do with muscles around the blood vessles, I guess it
loosens them up or something?............
O.K., my friend...........thank you once again!
Sincerely, Starlight
P.S. - he also told me that the fact that I've been dealing with this
irregular heartbeat for years can affect the brain causing
this ishemia.....is this true? |

Sweetie, if you had Ischemia, believe me you'd know it. Your arm (or head) would completely seize up and you'd be in unbearable pain. We simply cannot survive without blood flow. If it is severely restricted things go wrong very quickly and badly.
What you're describing can easily be put down to wonky thyroid, indigestion and messed up electrolytes, particularly magnesium, and other deficiencies.
I have had episodes of irregular heartbeat for years. I used to get scared, but now I know they don't last long and I don't suffer from them.
The vagus nerve is the major nerve of the parasympathetic nervous system. It's the largest feedback system we have between major organs, intestines and heart. If we have gas or any other kind of indigestion, it can overwhelm the nerve and thus interrupt the heart beat, which is why many people think they are having heart attackes when in fact it's just acute indigestion.
What can also happen to people is a lack of fatty acids leading to a lack of prostaglandins. If we are very lacking in Omega 3's, the body cannot manufacture enough prostaglandins to tell the veins to pulse rhythmically. What happens is they tighten but don't relax properly. If it happens in th lungs we get asthma, if it happens in the head we get cluster headaches or feelings of spaciness.
So a combo of things to strengthen the veins (garlic, onion, blueberries), increase circulation (cayenne, rosemary, basil), and electrolytes should insure that this doesn't happen to you any longer.
It may take awhile for the triggers to become de-sensitized - once it happens it is easy for it to happen again, unfortunately. That's just how the nervous system is. |

This is weird. I had almost the EXACT same symptoms last night. It was very very scary. It lasted for almost 1 1/2 hours. I just figured it was either too much cleansing and not enough eating (havent had much of an appetite lately) or an anxiety attack (never had before, but just got word that I could be getting laid off from work very soon). I had been having a weird feeling of exciteability or extreme worry ( dont know which one) in my chest for 2 days prior. I was very shaky afterwords and am still a little shaky today but have not taken any of my cleansing pills etc today and do not have the weird feeling in my chest. Also today I have the worst menstrual cramps I have ever had. I feel alot better now, but that "episode" scared me bad.

Hi Shelley,
Thank you so very very much for calming my nerves! Holy Moly!
I don't know why this dr. told me that....OH, that makes me mad!
I looked up some things on ischemia on Google, and they basically
just describe the symptoms in general, didn't say anyting about being
in great pain or whatever.....so, I didn't know that. Actually, I've
never heard that.....but I do believe you! O.K. so I'll take Omega 3's
and magnesium.....but I think you have to take mag. and potassium
together, right? In what proportion to each other? What do you think
of the MSM he told me to take? So this all could be my thyroid, or
the vagus nerve? WOW! that's really something! I have been undr
a great deal of stress latley......I suppose that also adds. This heart
thing I've had now for 12yrs., on and off, sometimes good, sometimes
bad. I really haven't had much of a problems with it latley though.
Shelley, could you please tell me what that is when SUDDENLY, like
a bolt of lightening, you are JOLTED awake, and it seems like your
heart isn't even beating, and you feel "dead" inside, like no life......
you get lightheaded, and the left side of my throat tightens up,
and that big artery on the left (that major one) gets all weird and
"thick"...sounds strange, but that's the feeling. I also get that "thick"
feeling in my chest a little when this happens as well..............
Ok, Shelley, thank you once again!!!! Sincerely, Starlight |

Magnesium should be in proportion to Calcium. Twice as much calcium as magnesium is the ideal if you're going to take it long term.
MSM is good, it cleanses the liver and such. But do check with kinesiology if you can. You can easily get MSM into your supplements by getting emergen-c with MSM. That way is quite safe and it's only a few dollars more expensive than regular emergen-c, and the C's and B's will do tremendous good too.
As for the suddenly being awake, well, there's physical reason for that - the weird pulsing of veins due to lack of prostaglandins coupled with pressure, or pressure on nerves, or messed up electrolytes and hormones (you have to have both to acheive deep mental states), or a more metaphysical reason.
Believe it or not some people are just better at going places while they sleep, and when they come back to their bodies it can be incredibly jolting. A simple shift doesn't tend to cause anything but increased heart rate, but a shift that approaches astral travel is very jolting. That is one of the reasons for that 4am wake-up that happens, we've just returned fully. And it could be your body is having trouble adjusting to the changes in the magnetic grid that have been happening since the harmonic convergance.
Flower essences help a lot with that.
A lot of the weird feeling in the chest is from the developing thymus gland. Our immune system is changing its paradigm and the shift causes a weird kind of chest pressure. |

Hi Shelley,
What is kinesiology? I've read a little about it, but it is a little
hard to understand.........now, should I take the calcium and mag.
for a long time, or just short term? .......Shelley, why would the
dr. come right out and tell me it was ischemia? Thank you so
much for calming my fears, I mean, he had me so darn nervous!
I thank God for you!!!!!!!
Sincerely, Starlight |

Kinesiology is muscle testing. Great stuff. Like using a pendulum only you don't need anything but your body. The easiest method is a two-person method, there's another method that's very easy for a lot of things, but takes awhile for tougher things to gain accuracy. I have to put more info in the FAQ, for now you can read about the single-person method here:
http://www.perelandra-ltd.com/AB1473/webpage.cfm?WebPage_ID=67&DID=8
Cal-Mag Fizz is one of the few things I recommend that people take long-term. Every time you flex a muscle you're using calcium and magnesium, and they are essentil for maintaining proper pH of the blood and prevent osteoperosis.
Doctors have book smarts but not necessarily people smarts. And they tend to have huge egos coupled with great insecurity because of their positions as professionals and healers, and the limitations of their science that only looks at facts from recent studies rather than our entire history of knowledge. They'd rather come up with any answer at all rather than looking dumb, and lack personal experience with these things. So when a book neglects to point out the obvious - that reduced circulation means great pain - they can't fill in the blanks.
And he wasn't entirely wrong - there is something called "silent" ischemia, but only people who have a history of heart attacks, severe pain and angina are diagnosed with this when they go into arrhythmatic attacks. The rest of us just have a wonky vagus nerve due to indigestion and other factors. |
