Yep, restlessness in general, whether it's manifested as biting nails, RLS, insomnia, usually has one or more of these deficiencies/imbalances at the core:
Low calcium, low magnesium, high potassium, high Vit B1, low tyrosine, low CoQ10.
It's tough to be high in potassium unless you're juicing or drinking tons of OJ and bananas. Start with Cal-Mag Fizz or something similar. Safe supplementation doses are around 250 mg of calcium for children, 250 to 500 of calcium for adults. Magnesium should be the same or half as much calcium. Take both, don't take just one.
Tyrosine is an amino acid (protein) rather like tryptophan. It's found in some beans, meats, eggs, fish, so unless you're a vegetarian you should be getting enough.
Also be on the lookout for food additives, preservatives, sweeteners, as many of them cause digestive by-products that annoy the body just enough to make one uncomfortable and restless.
Hope that helps! |
