This is a great way to pamper your skin without spending a lot of money.

First Step: Basic Cleanse. Use your favorite soap (olive oil/castille, Clinique, Neutrogena recommended) and wash face.

Second Step: Exfolliate - take off dead skin cells. Simply take a palm full of Baking Soda and apply to wet face and neck. Scour with fingers and/or washcloth. Rinse thoroughly. Keep out of eyes.

Third Step: Open the pores. You have several options from easiest to most effective:

Soak a washcloth in very warm water and pat the face, "reheating" the cloth as necessary.

Fill a large bowl or your sink full of steaming-hot water and get your fact close to it but not touching, cover head and bowl with towel and let the steam open your pores.

Use ground ginger or fresh ginger juice or ginger tea. Make a paste or soak washcloth in tea/juice and apply to skin for 5-10 minutes. Can combine with steam treatment for extra oomph.

Fourth Step: Deep Cleansing

You have several options here.

Extraction Tool: use it if you have it!

Castor Oil. Apply just a small amount to face/neck and then cover with warm, wet cloth. Rinse thoroughly, using soap/astringent (Witch Hazel) as needed

Follow with, or use instead, a clay masque. Queen Helene's or Freeman's or some combination of botanicals and pascallite. Massage into the skin thoroughly. Leave on until dry, then rinse/towel off gently.

Fifth Step: Close Pores: Rinse with very cold water. Dry and use cotton balls or paper towelettes to apply Witch Hazel (natural astringent) and/or Apple Cider Vinegar.

Sixth Step: Protect from Elements: Use just a tad of Wheat Germ Oil. Can also use Tea Tree Oil (disinfectent). Leave on skin, don't rinse off, just use a couple drops to half a teaspoon, diluted in water.

Hello Shelley or anyone else,

Is there a homemade facial cleanser that anyone can recommend. I was thinking coconut oil or jojoba oil mixed with baking soda and vegetable glycerin. Then use witch hazel afterwards to take residue off.

Anyway, the reason is every time I use a product with alot of ingredients in it it bothers my skin, even castile soap. If I put oil on skin (from the store)(not on face) after taking a shower about an hour or so later I get very itchy. I have put coconut oil (the kind you cook with)on face and not a problem. I guess I should try it on the whole body. What would help it absorb better into skin? So basically the store stuff I can't use. And most soaps dry out my skin. What is anyones opinion on using vasoline?
Thank and God Bless
