Is it ok to wash grapes and then freeze them and eat them a little at a time when they're still half frozen ??
They taste so much better and sweeter !!

The only problem I can see is eating cold food chills the spleen (I believe), so that'd be something to watch!
Not sure if grapes are ok or not, but I do love red ones - especially the seeds! (which Im quite sure arent good for me... ) |

Here is the best reply I can find on the spleen issue!
http://askshelley.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1475&highlight=chill+spleen
My theory about seeds only comes from the knowledge that most seeds and nuts are better soaked first to remove their anti-nutrient compounds as they can interfere with digestion. I did once read somewhere that raw grape pips have some good benefit, which I may try and find once more - but I avoid them for the above reason! |

grape seeds have both helpful and hurtful compounds, but you have to eat a whole lot of them to see etiher benefits or harm.
Frozen grapes are an awesome snack. Whenever I cut out refined sugars they're my "go-to" snack for when I have to have something sweet. |

Chinese medicine says so - but they are not always based on real science. You gotta watch out on those Chinese recomendations. Yin/yang is a beautiful concept, but the 5 modality medicine thing with hot, cold, wood, fire, water, etc., is really quite silly.
What is good to know is that when fighting off infection, your body has to stay warm becuase heat kills the baddies. Cold makes tissues contract. This is okay temporarily, but overdone is not a good thing.
And unless you put the cold right next to the spleen, how is the spleen going to get cold by eating something cold? It's not, and the 'cold spleen' term doesn't really have anything to do with temperature anyway! you'd think it would, but it's not. It's hard to explain if you haven't read a Chinese medicine book. It's a totally different way of thinking, all about the relationships of chi to the various organs. Of course, Chi was just their invention - yes there are subtle energies, they're called magnetics and they perform in very predictable ways. But the body works because of HORMONES, not Chi. The Chinese never even discovered hormones, so you can see why orthodox Western medicine is very slow to accept alternative therapies. |
