I am very confused on how to care for my acne prone skin, my spots have cleared from my temples, i have a few little spots on my forehead , but mostly around my mouth and jaw. I used to use a dermalogica face wash and scrub and moisturiser, i am now trying baking soda and apple cider vinegar as a toner, also hydrogen peroxide on spots to dry them up quickly! But i am not moisturising, i am confused whether to or not as some people say it will make it worse not to moisturise as the skin will start to over produce oil, bu then i've also been told that moisturiser will aggrevate acne too! So what should i do. I've been eating coconut oil which i was hoping would moisturise skin from inside out ?

Yes, it's best to moisturize from inside as much as possible first, and then only use moisturizer directly on the skin like once a week or every-other day, avoiding any eruptions.

When eruptions tend to surround the mouth that usually indicates an acid/alkaline imbalance and lack of B vitamins. You may need to take a baking soda bath (or eat 1/2 a teaspoon) and up your skin food intake a bit, along with calcium.

Hi Shelley,

Thanks, i find it really hard to up my food intake, as i have cut som many food groups out, i am eating loads of avacados, quinoa, leafy greens and salads, sometimes oat cakes, but i have cut out oats and grains this week to see if these cause me to break out. Should i take calcium tablets as i have cut out all dairy for a while now, and i have just cut out bread again as i have been told my candida problem has come back. I am taking 100mg b vit complex and zinc citrate 30mg, probiotics, and digestive enzymes.
I have also cut out all meat as well as fish, i am not sure this is a good idea though as i am already underweight and weight is coming off quick Sad
I am trying to alkalize, am about to start the alkalizing drink ! xx

You have to eat meat.

If you're not eating dairy you have to take cal/mag at least twice a week, preferably 3-4 if you have issues.

I find chicken and fish the easiest to digest, but it still seems to bloat me.
Do you know of a good cal/mag in the uk ?

Any with a 2-1 ratio of 500 mg of Calcium to 250 of Magnesium, preferbly wtih D thrown in for good measure, are fine. I Think some UK people have found actual Cal-mag fizz somewhere, but if youcan't it's okay.

Hi Shelley

I actually went to a Kinesiologist at the weekend, she tested me on supplements and body check, she confirmed my candida has come back and that my bowel and liver are blocked.
She gave me the following supplements to take:
vit e
b vit 100mg
mag - cal, but it has more mag than cal, she said I was very low on mag! which might be why I was feeling so depressed?! 1 with each meal
probiotics - flora synergy 2 with each meal
digestive enzymes 1 with each meal
zinc citrate 30mg

She also tested me on food sensitivities, the following came up :
citrus fruits all
nuts,
sugar
yeast
dairy
molasses
apple cider
reishi mushrooms - I had been taking these tablets to boost my immune system but looks like they where making my situation worse Sad

So I have to cut these foods out as well as following the candida diet! I was hoping to take the alkalising drink to start alkalising but I can't have most of the ingredients Sad
So do you think I should just focus on diet and supplements for now to help my acne ?
I will carry on dry skin brushing which I love, and having regular colonic's Smile
What do you recommend I do in ways of cleansing, liver cleansing, should I slow cleanse or flush ?

Hi Shelley

I am taking a 2/1 mag - cal, as given to me by kinesiologist and told me to take 3 a day, however you recommened 2-1 ratio of 500 mg of Calcium to 250 of Magnesium, should i take a extra calcium supplement aswell ?

Thanks Smile

depends on what your symptoms tell you. But it would be smart, if avoiding dairy, to get the ratio right, yes. Then when you needed extra magnesium you just take a detox bath with Epsom salts and there it is, not doing any imbalancing, just helping.
