Hi Shelley,
How great you are back!
Please can you help - I recently got an attack of Genital Herpes for the first time. Partner has never had it and we are faithful (5 years). It must have been latent in my system all this time.
I have CFS so my immune is pretty compromised. The attack came after a very emotionally stressful time, on the first day of my period. It cleared up within a week. I put a mixture of grapefruit seed extract and tea tree oil on it twice a day. I also took the antiviral medication the doctor gave me (Aciclovir) for 5 days.
My questions are:
1. Can I ever kill the virus completely or just manage it to stop further recurrences?
2. What should I do to get rid of it?
3. I heard that taking Lysine is good - what do you think, and how long should i take it for?
It's been 2 weeks since it cleared up, but I am getting shooting tingles in the same area again, and a little itching - please help! |

It depends on which kind of herpes it is. There are many different kinds, only Herpes Simplex B is the one that stays in your system forever. Since you haven't been with numerous partners recently, chances are favorable that this was a one-time thing, a different virus altogether. Still, follow the protocol for herpes in general for awhile and see if it helps.
Lysine is good, avoiding arginine at the same time is also good. Supplement zinc for awhile too. Make sure you're getting adequate calcium. Try adding a bit of base/alkaline to your system by using baking soda. You can take a bath in it (add about 1/4 cup to the bath) so it doesn't neutralize your stomach acids. Take about 3 baths this way.
Hope that helps! |

Thank you Shelley! I'm so pleased to get a reply from you, I really love the advice on your site
I really hope that it will be a one-off attack and not come back. I know I have Epstein Barr as well, so anything I can do to get rid of Herpes will be good.
I had a look on the Ailments page in FAQ, I couldn't find a Herpes protocol. Is there one I'm missing?
I have some Trisalts (1tsp has 296mg calcium in it from calcium carbonate). I use them for rehydrating after saunas - can I take these for the Calcium? Zinc - will do that. Also, how much Lysine should I take?
Would Trisalts help for alkalising my system too? (taken in between meals?)
I don't have a bath in my apartment, only a shower
Should I apply something to alkalise directly on the affected area?
thanks! |

trisalts is great.
I don't have a herpes protocol yet, as I don't have personal experience with it. But just Google it and you'll find plenty of recommendations. I do have stuff on supporting the immune system, which is definitely something you need to be doing what with EBV and all.
Are you following my candida diet? That will help too.
Good luck! |

For immune, I could only find the info under colds... is this what I should follow? sorry if i'm being blind! |

Nope, you're not being blind, it's confusing. The Lymph section in the FAQ gives the basics.
The basics of supporting the immune system are:
Detox like mad, particularly detox baths, liver/lymph/bowel management.
Candida diet.
Probiotics.
Super-foods, Skin Food, particularly EFA's, Zinc and Vit C. |
