I just moved into a new apartment and my little girl cat (just 1 year old last week) is vomiting every time she eats. She will literally be at her plate, and turn her head to get sick that is how fast it comes back up.

I took her to the vet and he did an exam and x-rays to see if there was any sort of blockage in her throat or stomach. He found nothing, the blood work came back clean as well as the parasite test. Her throat is severely inflamed, she is dehydrated and and hasn't eaten in 5 days now. She won't come out of the closet where she has been hiding.

She is on anti nausea meds, as well as cortisone and antibiotics.

My question is this.... could it possibly be that she ate a roach and would get this ill? My previous apartment never had any bugs at all - they were very good about cleanliness and exterminated every 3 months. I saw a roach just hte other day and that is when I put 2 and 2 together. Although in this case I do not know if the answer is 4....

Any suggestions?

Hi Myra

I have just seen your post, and was wondering how your cat is now. I have 4 cats myself, and would have thought it extremely unlikely it was a roach making your cat so ill, although not impossible. To be honest it sounds like a problem with the throat as you said its inflammed, so may be some kind of throat infection or abcess which is causing her pain and making her vomit when she eats. If I were you I would seek a second opinion from a different vet. Hopefully your cat is better already as I write this. Please let us know the outcome.
