When it comes to ready-made tea bags, some brands use higher quality herbs than others. Some never make a good strong cup of tea no matter how long you soak the teabag while others are good for 2-3 cups.
The ones that I've found the best for flavor, quality and price, overall, are:
Yogi Tea
Traditional Medicinals
Alvita from TwinLab
Maharishi Ayur-Ved
Tazo did not rate high at all despite the very high price. I get their "Calm" because it's an excellent blend of chamomile and mint, which are wonderful prior to the detox bath or before bed, but cannot recommend Tazo teas because they are much to weak. No bang for the buck there.
Since teas are one of the most effective, convenient, cheapest and safest forms of intervention, it pays to give tea a try before reaching for any pills.
For raising digestive power/pungent therapy and getting rid of that tongue coat, digestive teas are essential! Best ones for that are:
Yogi Tea's India Spice, Green Tea Chai, Egyptian Mint, and if cleansing, get their Detox Tea or Peach Detox.
Traditional Medicinals Digest-Aid (ginger tea).

I am a Canadan In a mid sized city in Central Ontario
My new big super market is Carrying Yogi teas now, in the health/wellness section.
I did a happy dance when I was perusing the traditional Medicine teas, and saw the boxes there.
I adore the liccorice taste and the peppermint.
I have a question about storage and shelf life. How should teas be stored and for how long?
I have such an assortment now I should really organize them better. |

Yummy! That's so great!
If they come in an air-tight foil package that is ideal, but since that's hard to duplicate at home I don't even worry about it. I totally abuse my teas, can't help it. I like a wide variety. I go thru them pretty fast too.
Throw them out after about 3 months if you haven't finished them off by then. Try to do a "pantry cleanse" about every 6 months. Anything that isn't in vinegar or in the dark and unopened probably needs to be cleaned out at least twice a year. |

Hi Shelley,
My Wife and I will have to get hold of some Yogi Teas.
Up until now we`ve been using Celestial Seasonings range of herbal teas.
Whats your take on them Shelley? |

| Celestial seasonings are gross! Totally. Just wait until you taste Yogi teas, or Alvita or Traditional Medicinals. Celestial teas are usually ridden with mold and mildew, very poor quality plants and not great manufacturing standards because they're so mass produced. |

Back when I had Candida problems, Celestial Seasonings teas gave me a nasty sore throat and sour stomach, a testament to what Shelley says about their mold content.
Yogi Teas and Traditional Medicinals teas, however, did not cause trouble. |

| What about their Organic teas? I bought a box of peppermint tea and I haven't had any problems with it. |

Wow! I didn't know that about Celestial Seasonings teas!!!
I love their Green Tea (decaf, of course) and their Peppermint Tea!!!
Okay, I admit that I tried Alvita's Peppermint, and it does taste better, but Celestial Seasonings is fine with me. Hmmm...might just need to switch totally over to Alvita and Traditional Medicinals.
BTW, TM has an Organic Chamomile w/Lavender tea that is awesome!!! I love Chamomile!!! I've also used TM's Smooth Move. It was pretty good and didn't make me cramp too bad. Alvita has an awesome Ginger & Peppermint Tea and their Spearmint Tea is good, too! Their Chamomile is good, too. Oh, heck-they're all good!!!! LOL LOL LOL
There is one tea I'm looking for that I saw someone mention on another website. She said it was a Peppermint Chamomile blend. Anybody know where I can get such a tea?
Thanks!

| If you can't find a particular blend, just make it yourself! it's okay to use two teabags after all, sometimes I use as many as three! I just keep adding hot water so it doesn't get wasted. Adding peppermint makes anything taste better. |
