Hi Shelley. I was reading Fats that Heal, Fats that Kill and Udo states that excess sugar leads to excess vinegar, and to excess cholesterol... so wouldn't that definately be a factor when it comes to stone formation? Here's the paragraph from the book:

Sugar Turn Sour and Vinegar Becomes Fat

How does our body convert sugar molecules into fats and cholesterol? When our cells' furnaces (mitochondria) break down a 6-carbon glucose molecule to produce energy, one of the eteps involves the creation of 2-carbon acetates (vinegar). These acetates are building blocks for both cholesterol and saturated fatty acids. If acetates are produced faster than they can be burned by our body into carbon dioxide, water, and energy, they pressure enzymes in our cells to hook them end to end to make saturared fatty acids and cholesterol. This process prevents the metabolic problems that excess acetates would cause in our cells if they were allowed to accumulate. In the short term, excess vinegar in our cells is more toxic than excess fats and cholesterol.

Yep, excess sugar is the culprit to a huge number of imbalances. The "Sugar Diseases" are very real, but no one wants to be so unpopular as to tell society that sugar and cocaine are about equal chemically. There's just one nitrogen atom difference between the two. We yell and scream about marijuana but sugar is big business already and so no one wants to start telling the truth - that it's much worse than grass!

We all have to find our tolerances for sugar. If we have issues like adult-onset diabetes or high cholesterol, we have simply discovered our real-world limits. Then the choice becomes, which path do you want to take? The no-sugar diet, or the lipid-lowering drugs?

It's a pretty tough call. I was able to give up sugar for the candida issue, but to give it up the rest of my life? Aarrgghh! In this case I choose the pill. Shoot me. Wink

Wow. I never knew that. The sugar industry is like a big conspiracy.
