What supplements are you currently taking?

By "calm down," what do you mean exactly? That is, are you feeling hyper, wired, tense, obsessive/compulsive, do you have restless leg syndrome? cramps or muscle spasms? Are you tired at about 4:00 pm but wide awake at 2:00 am (or thereabouts)?

is more of an irritability, like, talk to me wrong and I'm going to kill you? road rage?

Oh so thats whats going on. I just heard that 4pm is the normal time to be sleepy but i am always tired mid afternoon and then wide awake at night. I'll have to try and love my adrenal glands but its hard when your a student and finals are coming up. eep Smile Is it possible that for a specific person that adrenal failure causes depression and there are no other reasons behind the depression, true everyone is different but just in general. Also what other herbs interact negatively with St. Johns Wort, i know prescription SSRI's are not supose to be taken with St Johns Wort but curious about any other herbs. Thanks, have a great weekend. Razz

Okay good, that all is due to being too acidic, not alkaline enough, and basically has very little to do with the adrenals -altho adrenal exhaustion will certainly make this happen to you more often.

What you have to do is to be very steady and committed to taking a good Calcium/Magnesium supplement, and to get plenty of potassium in your diet. You need to take at a minimum 500 mg of Calcium, 250 of Magnesium, as a single dose, and when the twitchiness/cramps are evident, take a second dose in the evening. My favorite calcium supplement is cal-mag Fizz, or Solaray is a good manufacturer too. Links in the Sources forum, Amazon post for the Fizz.

Everything living has potassium, but there are certain foods that it is good to accent - list in the FAQ under Diet Management.

It would also be wise to check your iron levels. A basic physical will do that, or you can look for signs of paleness (pale tongue, pale inner eyelids), iron deficiency (reduced or elevated temperatures, fatigue, headaches, palpitations, light headed or dizzy when stand up too fast) and analyze your diet for iron sources (see list in FAQ). If you're not regularly eating high iron sources it's pretty accurate to just assume your'e low in iron. Solaray's Iron Asporotate is the only one that doesn't cause constipation.

Calcium will help you feel balanced, it's a very easy fix so get on it, okay? Smile

Aw sweetie, I can't imagine being sick when you have to be a mom too! At least I never had to deal with that! I don't know how you moms do it.

Yes, you have to take it EVERY day and keep your levels up for it to have a lasting effect on your moods and muscles.

Also, I forgot to mention this, you may want to take therapeutic doses of B6 and Biotin. These are both very important B vits that have been linked to both candida and anxiety. Candida tends to run rampant when these B's aren't readily available, and candida then uses them all up, causing a vicious cycle.

A therapeutic dose is about 3x RDA and is safe to take for several months, then it's important to take a break as prolonged therapeutic doses will actually cause anxiety and reduce thyroid function.

thx again shelley.
i will take 2 doses of the cal/mag fizz. i notice that when this anxiety starts on the rise a couple of things happen. my urine gets some strands of mucus? constipation occurs, my hives start up, my tongue gets whiter.
the tmj starts and one tooth in particular starts hurting (it's covered under a temp bridge).
so my body is saying what?

that you're too acidic, overwhelming your paths of elimination with toxins and your power of digestion with foods that either aren't chosen or prepared properly. No one can feel good when that happens!

It would be a good idea for you to have at least one cup of blood purifying tea a day - see the FAQ/Cleansing/Detoxing for info on blood purifiers, and to really accent Pungent Therapy. Either tea or herbal supplements - or both - would be good. Your kidneys could use a break too, info on that in the FAQ. Smile

ok, i'll definatly do all that. what do u think of homeopathic stuff like this
http://www.naturallydirect.net/acid-alkaline-balance.htm?OVRAW=acidic%20stomach&OVKEY=acidic%20stomach&OVMTC=standard
also...i don't understand where the anxiety & muscel twitches would come from the acids. something else going on?

that product doesn't make much sense to me, it has phosphorous and sulphur in it, both of which are part of the ACID side of blood pH. Weird. The usual homeopathic principles of give what's bad to force good doesn't work in the case of blood pH, the body needs what the body needs.

Of course excess acids and toxins can cause twitching and anxiety/mental distress of all kinds. Consider this, what would happen if you sniffed airplane glue? After a tiny bit of euphoria, you'd feel twitchy and paranoid. That's a toxic compound that the body creates naturally as a byproduct of energy production, and it cannot properly neutralize it without calcium.

And if you ate poisoned mushrooms, you'd be twitching and hallucinating.

Everything that happens in your body, every muscle movement, even relaxation, every emotion, is simply a chemical of some kind. Emotions for instance are protein chains requiring minerals to connect them up right. If you don't have the right minerals and amino acids for the Joy protein, you won't feel joy, no matter how much you love life, or God, or your husband, because your body simply cannot manufacture it.

Get the picture? Smile

Do you mean the Cal-Mag Fizz makes you break out? Or all sources of calcium/magnesium?

If it's only the fizz that does it, try Solaray's Cal-Mag-Zinc. they're a great manufacturer, I always do well with their stuff and they get good reviews.
