Hi Shelley:

Could you recommend me a good website where I can find Ayurveda herbs info, as well as where to purchase them?

Thanks,
RMA

I wish Planetary Formulas would get their own site, but I don't think they do. Michael Tierra, the O.MD who creates the formulas (a mixture of Ayurvedic and Chinese herbs) may have one tho. They have good quality herbs that are widely distributed and in most health food stores.

I also like Maharishi Ayur-Ved products, they have catalogs all over the Internet and mail them too, but I've yet to find an official site apart from one in the UK.

Banyan Botanicals has good herbs. You have to be very careful when buying Ayurvedic/Indian herbs, because conditions in India are not ideal for herbs. They sell herbs for pennies a ton, and use the worst imaginable harvesting technique - they simply take a tractor and dig the entire herb up along with plenty of compost. Since they tend to use human and animal feces to fertilize their crops, these tend to end up in the herbal complexes of the mass producers who buy them. So you gotta be careful to buy from manufacturers with high standards.
