Hey Shelley!

After all the reading I do on this forum I was wondering if you could give your opinion on what I am doing so far. I tried to take the dosha test and where it says results, it just wouldn't work. I will fill that part in later.

Anyway, I am 36 years old with a strong history of breast cancer. Mother, aunt and myself (all real young mom 40, aunt 29, myself 29). My aunt and mother were both estrogen positive but mine was estrogen negative!?? My cancer was non-invasive so (DCIS) I had a mastectomy and no other treatment. I live in constant fear that it will return so that is why I got so heavily into alternative treatments. As you know, I am a huge fan of your forum (recruit from Cure Zone) and just want to know if you think I am doing things right.

Every morning I wake up and drink a big glass of spring water. I then exercise for 20 minutes (low impact aerobics or rebound) and then take CHinese Bitters. I wait 1/2 hour and have either 2 organic eggs scrambled or some type of hot grain cereal like oatmeal or rice cereal. Eggs are 3-4 times a week. I then drink green tea and take chlorophyll. For lunch I eat an avocado and an apple (most days) or sometimes I make your cleansing salad, and the only other supplements I take are calcium/mineral, vit. c and kefir in the afternoon. I cycle oil of oregano every few weeks to keep the bad stuff away! Dinner is some type of organic beef, chicken or somes times fish and vegetable. After dinner, lately I take either IF#1, cape aloe, or WOW because I feel with all the detox stuff, I have to go and I just don't without anything. I drink water all day and take coptis before bed. All my food is organic and home made as I have always stayed away from process food. BTW my food bill is astronomical as buying natural is so EXPENSIVE!!

My only health complaint is bad menstrual cramps (getting better since liver herbs) terrible constipation, pimples on the cheek bone only and I notice it is worse in the winter (I seem to do well in the sunshine), and I used to get mild anxiety/depression but the liver herbs have worked wonders on that. I feel pretty even tempered these days. I am 5'8" and 130 lbs. so weight is not an issue (I wear a size 6) but the cellulite on my legs has been bad my whole life.

I think that covers a lot of it. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your time, Shelley. You are very appreciated.

Hi Doolange! I'm glad you asked. Smile

Your protocol is absolutely fine. I hope you can get off the stronger laxatives someday soon, that should happen as your liver gets stronger (you might want to take a spoonful of oil 3x daily and see what it does). But no, overall your physical regimen is just fine, perfect really. Allow yourself to branch out into more variety with your cooked foods (sweet potatoes, beets) and consider getting into juicing, that's about it! Smile

Oh and fasting every now and then really helps with that darned food bill. Wink

Lymph management (detox baths, dry brushing) coupled with bowel/liver management is essential to keeping breasts healthy as there are lymph ducts in the breast.

Where I think you should go from here is more into the energetic realms of healing. Physical healing is the base, the hard reality that we must use as our guide, but it's not the whole truth of healing. There is also dis-ease on intangible levels that diet can only address partially.

For instance, your fear is doing you no good on intangible levels (emotional/mental body) and that will eventually translate into the physical levels as actual ailments. So I encourage you to get into energetic healing and balancing. The two most powerful that I've found so far are flower essences and MAP.

Also, are you living in the same area as your mothers? Certain areas of the world are really bad for women because of missile testing, amunitions storage/manufacturing, that polluted the ground with way too much radiation and such. The women of Utah are practically guaranteed to have breast cancer and the best solution is to MOVE, or take very frequent detox baths.

The attitude that gets us back to vital health on all levels is one that says the worst is past now because we're dealing with it. The best is yet to come. You still have to deal with the very real emotional ramifications of your situation ... so you can move on and know that the future is indeed bright!

Thank you for your answer! Yes, I do live in the same area as my whole family all lives within a few miles of each other. We are right outside New York City and apparantly down wind from Indian Point, a big nuclear power plant Sad As fas as uprooting, it is a huge thing to do. We have a huge family business here and it is a major source of my income! I sort of take the attitude that if I can learn about keeping my body clean, it will help me get rid of the bad environmental stuff. I hope my theory is right. My breast specialist wanted me to think about taking my ovaries out because genetic breast cancer usually carries the risk for ovarian cancer. I know someone who did that and after the hyterectomy ended up with breast cancer and in my opinion it was from the hormones going wonky!!

So, taking out my ovaries doesn't seem to be an answer for me and I feel it brings on a whole host of other problems. I am learning things to do to help myself and I can tell you that I wasn't nearly as "educated" about these things 10 years ago as I am now. I just really watched what I ate as far as going organic and took a lot of different supplements and herbs then (when I was diagnosed). If you can believe it, my breast specialist, (one of the top in the country and world renowned) said that something I did save my life as she had not seen so much breast cancer stay so non aggressive. The cancer covered 3/4 of the breast but stayed at stage 0 Very Happy

Anyway, could you tell me more about the detox bath and skin brushing and also about how to get my bowels to work better? Another thing, I keep getting rash type pimples on my cheek bones. Is this a clogged lymph system causing this? Another health issue I would like to address. It does seem to come and go and I have yet to figure out what is triggering it. It is fine in the morning and gets worse as the day goes on!!!

Thanks again Shelley. I love reading your posts!

oh boy... a power plant. You should all be doing the detox bath for sure!

Okay, a rash on your cheekbones that comes and goes frequently? Doesn't just stay? Sounds like either hormones or a reaction to too much Iodine. Are you taking a supplement with iodine, or eating some kind of seafood/sea salt rich in iodine? Iodine rashes don't look like regular acne, it is a tight rash of tiny bumps like goosebumps that don't go away. On me they don't turn red very much, they tend to stay the same color as the rest of my face. They tend to happen to people with wonky thyroids.

for the constipation, you need to start taking oils 3x a day in addition to the oils used in your meals. the best oils for your situation would be fish oils, cod liver (these two can be in capsules), olive, and perhaps a combo of borage/black current/evening primrose. I wouldn't try a lot of flax while your metabolism is compromised unless you have it mixed with Kefir or Cottage cheese so it's particularly oxygenating.

Switch from Formula #1 to triphala if you can find it. You need something that will strengthen your bowels, not weaken them over time. You can take as much triphala as you like. Dates, figs, prunes and raisins should be your main snacks.

Dry brushing stimulates nerves and helps the lymphatic system to cleanse. It's very simple too, I just posted on how to do it, or see the link below. Those instructions are mighty complicated, feel free to simplify as necessary. Smile

The Detox Bath is essential. The recipe is in the FAQ. Frequent sweating is the only way to exit certain toxins, and getting very hot is the only way to neutralize petroleum-based toxins like pesticides and smog.
