Well I'm finally taking a bit of a vacation and going to Las Vegas two days during the week in a couple weeks. I don't gamble really, I just like to walk around the casinos and people watch, check out the decor, hit a show or two and laze by the pool.
I once saw a list of cheap or free "sights to see" in an in-flight magazine that I wish I'd kept. It listed the obvious like the white tigers and MGM Lions, the hokey automatronic show at Ceaser's Palace, but also some lesser well-knowns like a couple of huge aquariums in the casinos somewhere.
If anyone has tips of places to visit even for just two seconds while sightseeing there I'd appreciate it! I'm taking a Las Vegas newbie with me and we're doing this as cheap as possible (outside of the shows and at least one gourmet meal) so I'd like to make the rest of the time as fun as possible. |

The Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay is fun.....and cheap.
Good eats on the Strip? Man, there are so many great restaurants. Throw a rock. But, for good prices and great eats, I'm into the Grand Lux Cafe in the Venetian. They also have a nice art gallery, as does Bellagio. I think Monet is on exhibit at Bellagio, right now. Cirque du Soleil has about 15 shows running around town right now (well, not 15, but quite a few). I saw Mystere. AWESOME. And, Blue Man Group abosultely ROCKED! Celebrity watching can be done at The Palms and at the Hard Rock. Again, throw a rock. You'll hit one. |

ooo shark reef... that'll be cool. I like how they've decorated some of the restaurants there too. I didn't know the Venetian had an art gallery! neato! and that would be KILLER if the Monets are still at Bellagio when I get there. Droolllllll!
We're seeing Rita Rudner the first night, and cirque du soleil's "O" the second night. Both of our haute cuisine meals have been planned, the rest will be snacks and tastes, and of course the breakfast brunch at the Bellagio. I can hardly wait!!!
Hope to see you while I'm there! I'll be sure to e-mail you my cell phone number. |

You're gonna LOVE "O". The Cirque guys, the LaLiberte's, have built homes right by my house and I'm always so tempted to hoof it up their drive and beg them for free tickets to any of their shows. Kidding. |
