| I've been reading about food combining and there are a lot of contradictory materials. So hears what most agree with which is high protein and high carbohydrates(high starches) should not be mixed. Where people don't seem to agree on is fats and oil. Some say fats and oils can be mixed with any high carbohydrates or any carbohydrates others say that fat should only be with protein so who is right? |

Food combining is crap science. If it were correct, the human race never would have survived this long.
the only thing you have to worry about with food combining is whether you're over eating, drinking too many fluids, or eating raw tropical fruits and melons with the meal so that they cause fermentation. Stick to the Power of Digestion notes and don't waste your time or money on people who are trying to make a million off a fad. I'll be posting about TRUE food combining rules (the ones that make for both good digestion and good absorption and utilization of nutrients) one of these days soon. |

My digestion is so messed up I feel like I'm not absorbing much. So for vegetables its best to have them cooked? I like to steam some of my vegetables like string beans and carrots but I read that heat kills enzymes, nutrients are lost, and blah blah blah so Im pretty much at a lost.
Right now my meals are like this can you tell me where I should improve or any advice:
Breakfast-A poached egg with steamed (carrots, string beans, and asparagus)
Brunch-a piece of fruit
Lunch-brown rice mixed with cooked spinach, broccolli, celery, and bellpeppers; a piece of boiled chicken breast; and a tablespoon with EVOO or EVCO and 1/2 an avacodo
Mid snack-almond butter, 1 tablespoon of EVCO , and 1 tablespoon of goatein
Dinner-boiled chicken thigh or leg; steamed stringbeans, raw carrots, lettuce, 1/2 avacodo and 1 tablespoon of EVCO or EVOO
So that's what I eat and when I look at food combining these combinations are continually destroying my body and I'm not absorbing much but I would like your opinion. Thanks in advance |

Don't worry too much about cooking meaning lost nutrients, just start out with high-quality produce.
The problem with that diet is it relies too much on chicken. Constantly eating chicken like that, and it better be hormone free like Zacky or Rocky, will make you allergic to it over time.
It's also bland, not enough spices that really aid digestion, or at least you didn't list them and they're important.
Brown rice is extremely hard to digest unless you make it as Congee. Basmati rice (white or brown) is better if you're just boiling the rice. You'll get more nutrition if you make a rice medly with wild rice and cook it in broth.
Almond butter is quite rich and difficult to digest. I wouldn't add anything to it except for maybe Jicima sliced as a cracker. Add the EVO to your breakfast instead.
It's difficult to digest raw carrots, they're best either cooked or juiced or grated. Don't just eat them as is. I always see undigested carrots in my stools if I just eat carrot sticks. Root veggies are tough to digest raw.
Don't bother eating head lettuce. Get a bag of assorted spring greens instead if you wish to have a green salad.
You're also ignoring cultured foods. If your digestion is weak, your diet should be mostly cultured foods.
To eat less chicken but not lose weight or protein, eat turkey, tuna, salmon, sardines, red snapper, orange roughy, Kichadi, bean burritos, and find a good source of pasture-grazed beef and buffalo. Buffalo burgers are fantastic! |

| tomatoes are so highly acidic, full of wonderful fruit acids that add to the power of our digestion that it's pretty much okay. A tomato salad is a good way to help ensure that we digest meats etc. The Mediterranean diet is one of the best diets out there, after all. |

I would certainly agree with that Shelley. Most mediterranean people have beautiful healthly skin. I see most of my friends are from either Spain or France so their food habits are rubbing off on me too which is great.
Bloody British foods lol !!! |

Since u say that almond butter is difficult to digest ...
r we better off eating almonds that r soaked in water or does it make a difference "if " my
almond/peanut butter is made with 100% freshly roasted ALMONDS or PEANUTNUTS ?? etc ...
raw versus roasted nutbutters ...
I used to eat peanutbutter by the SPOONFULS !!!!!!!
Can this have cause gallstones or a digestive problem/BLOCKAGE ... since I am constantly burping now since about 6 months ago ?? |

well the problem with peanut butter is that mother nature had to protect the peanuts from molds and mildew, which means giving them tons of toxins. They are grown in the mud, you know.
Almonds, in contrast, are high up in the trees, so they don't need as many protective chemicals to keep them healthy.
I find that I can digest almond butter just fine as long as I don't mix it with a lot of other things. I use Jicima sliced into cracker shape - yum yum!
When cleansing, however, it's best to make your own almond butter so that you can be sure the oils are not rancid. Once something is ground up oxygenation starts happening exponentially and taht's bad for oils. That's why, when cleansing, it's best to only eat raw nuts that have soaked overnight.
ALL nuts have chemicals that impede absorption of their wonderful minerals. It's why most tribes that have ready access to nuts still eat meat and fish frequently, and it's why we soak our nuts when using them for therapeutic purposes. If I'm baking I don't bother soaking them. |

Yep, I still eat peanut butter on occasion. Every now and again when I don't feel like cooking and need a quick high-protein snack it comes in handy. |
