Hey Shelley,
I asked this question several days ago but not sure if I posted in the wrong place or it just didn't get posted. Anyway, I'm back from my trip and all went well. I have spent the last 2 weeks with gb pain and i'm going to do a LF on Friday. I had something happen while I was away. One of my main symptoms has been this dizzy/motion thing and sometimes it comes on with a nasty headache that can last days or sometimes weeks. I had one last week come on that left me with a light show in my left eye. It was a half circle with flashing lights and lasted about 20 minutes. It scared the daylights out of me but I knew it was connected to this headache. I have never had anything like it:( I called an herb store and got some feverfew and I was wondering if this is safe to take? Do you have any thoughts about it and mirgraines or any other suggestions? I did go for a massage the next day and the therapist said my shoulders and neck were like were on a counter top. I'm wondering if all the tight muscles might be part of the problem. Just wanted your thoughts. Thank you once again. Gayle

Hi Gayle,

sounds like migraine with aura. I have migraine since i'm 9 years old and 5 years ago i had the first aura of my life. (I'm 36 now) I was very scared of the dancing flashcircle. Since then I had a aura maybe 2 times a year. It doesn't scares me anymore. I just try to relax and wait until it's over. In Germany we have a Aura-Forum in which i read lately, that for some people it helps to abbreviate the endurance of an aura by not laying down the head during an aura. I will try this, if i have one again.

I think the aura must have something to do with the liver congestion which became a big problem too, at the time i developed the first aura. In the chinese medicin they say as well, that migraine is related to the liver and gallbladder.

I'm sure that i will get rid of the migraine! Smile Even if the doctors say it's incureable. Laughing Others already reached this, as i read in the different liverflush-boards.

You can look at some nice aura-arts and more here:

Best wishes

Luz

Hi Gayle! Headaches are in the FAQ under ailments. When you have a headache/migraine that attacks one eye, it's all about cal/mag deficiency or imbalance. When there's a "light show," there's a problem with circulation. Start out with supplementing calcium/magnesium, drink a cleansing drink with blood-thinning Cayenne, and take other things to thin the blood like curcoma, ginger tea, turmeric, ginger, onion soup, aspirin, ginseng.

good luck! Smile

thank you both for your responses! I figured this was a migraine but it is weird to have my first one at 50 years old!!! Shelley, I stopped taking all of my supplements about 2 months ago. I have always taken cal/mag but just got tired of swallowing pills so I stopped. Should I get back on them. If it is a cal/mag problem I guess I'm not getting enough in my food. Should I be using supplements or is there a way to get enough from my diet? I will do the LF on Friday and will start vitamins again and see if there is an improvement in the way I have been feeling. I have also been having cramps in my calfs so this makes sense. Do you have any suggestions on a good cal/mag. I was using Bone Up but I'm about out and not sure if I should continue it or try something new. Thank you once again for your help. This next LF best be getting me back on track. This has been a miserable few weeks:( Gayle

Sorry shelley I forgot to ask you about Ginkgo. Would that be ok to use or would Gingseng be better? Thanks again. Gayle

gingko is great for increasing circulation in the brain itself, but that probably won't help migraines, it just helps aphasia and other light mental dysfunction. Great for taking exams and finals. Ginseng is an excellent all-around herb, both adaptogenic (blood thinner) and rejuvenative. The only problem is with long-term supplementation, as it does have an effect on hormones, mostly by increasing estrogen.

I highly recommend Cal-Mag Fizz, which can be hard to find. It's the only calcium supplement that is designed to be very absorbable without neutralizing stomach acids, and they throw in the vital B vits too. It has won nutritional chemistry awards. I have a link in the Amazon Sources post in the Sources forum.

Solaray's Cal-Mag-Zinc is good, or whatever "bone" formula you want to use. Ideally, calcium supplements should have magnesium, zinc and/or D for proper balance, utilization, etc. I get at least 20 minutes of California sunlight a day thanks to walking the dogs and riding the bike, so I don't worry too much about D.

I find it very very difficult to get enough calcium from foods if I'm refraining from dairy. People who eat less than 1500 calories a day and don't juice are definitely not getting enough. You have to eat a ton of broccoli soup, make cilantro chutney, juice greens and add it to your carrot juice, stuff like that. If I drink my kefir protein shakes and eat cheese that helps a lot, but I still need to supplement at least 3-4 days out of the week or I get the calf cramps, restless legs, insomnia. Every now and again I buy raw milk and feast on that for a few days until my tongue gets coated. Smile
