Back in the summer of 2002 my girlfriend and I performed oral sex for the first time (we never had oral or normal sex before that). Weeks later my penis and testicles were swollen and itchy. I did nothing about it for a year because I was too embarrassed and now I am badly regretting it because I had no idea it would lead to this.
Last year in May for some reason I felt extreme fatigue and thought perhaps it was just a lack of sleep so I began to slept more. Weeks later nothing had changed so I thought perhaps it was just a virus and considered it to be something that would pass on its own then came June. In June I began to suffer from severe headaches everyday that eventually led to blindingly painful migraines. I also had muscle pain all over, my teeth were aching and I felt pressure all around my head - I could barely think. One day in July the migraine was so bad I could not get out of my bed. The doctor gave me anti-biotics and I felt great - completely normal and thought it was all over but 3 days after finishing the course all the symptoms began to return. I knew I had to do something so I typed in the symptoms and came across thinking I had sinusitis so I eliminated caffeine and dairy products and sure enough I began to feel a lot better days later. It wasn't until weeks back I began to put all the pieces together (from the "jocky itch" I got from the oral sex) and realise I have candida. I began the anti-candida diet 3 weeks ago and it is so upsetting to think I will have to follow this diet for most of my life now. I still can't get over it.
If only I had acted straight away from the day I got the jocky itch. It's something I will regret for as long as I live. |

Oh my! I'm so sorry that happened to you. It took me 5 years to properly diagnose my candidiasis, so I can relate!
Be sure to read my candida diet guidelines, most others are insanely difficult to follow for no good, solid reasons.
Good luck to you! |

Thanks Shelley. Do you have specific guidelines for leaky gut anywhere? I am unable to digest yogurt even if they are live or cultured so I am assuming this is down to the protein being leaked into the blood stream. I tried a little last Saturday but experienced gentle flu-like symptoms for a few hours.
This is a great site. |

I'm so glad you like the site! It was created with people like you in mind.
Yes, I do have guidelines for Leaky Gut in the FAQ. I think I put them under Candida, or maybe under Ailments? I forget!!
Also, be sure to read about the healing crisis and kinesiology. That's in the FAQ under Vital Health Management. Your symptoms could have been brought on by a healing crisis, or indeed they could have been a sign that you're not ready for yogurt yet. It's tough to say for sure unless you test with kinesiology. Some people who are way into cultured foods do say that yogurt doesn't have enough of the microbes that candida people need, that they're better off with Kefir. |
