| acidophilus IS a probiotic. So it depends on which probiotics you're already taking. If you're including kefir in your diet you probably don't need any special probiotic supplementation. |

| So when the bottle says "bifidus...." but not acidophillus, is acidophillus just another type of backteria? |

Yep the two main types of good bacteria are the bifido-bacteria - mostly active in the colon and the lacto-bacteria (acidophillus is a type of lacto), which are mostly active in the small intestine.
Apparently bifido-bacteria outnumber lactobacteria 10-1 in the colon.
Acidophillus literally means "Acid loving". |
