I have had issues with vaginal yeast infections, along with a number of other symptoms for years now. About 6 weeks ago I went to see a new doctor that treats systemic yeast. She put me on the diet and P&B shakes and gave me some other supplements. She also gave me boric acid to treat the yeast infections. I have not seen any mention of boric acid on this board, but have seen mention of it in other places, but varying opinions on it (as with pretty much everything else). The vaginal infections seem to be the symptom that is lingering around the most, but I don't want to be using this boric acid if it is harmful. I have a follow up appointment with my doctor on Friday, so I wanted to get some opinions on this before going back there. Also, if you believe boric acid is a bad choice - can you let me know some good alternatives that you know of/have used.
Thanks! |

Hiya Em!
It might be a good idea to use Boric Acid for 3 days, because Acidophilus, the friendly microbe, loves an acidic environment. I've never used it and have an alternative method that worked quite fine, and will work as an adjunct to Boric Acid. It is in the FAQ under Ailments. |

Thanks Shelley,
I did actually read your approach in the FAQ as well and will try that too. I've seen discussions here about everything else my doctor had recommended and wanted to get your take on this. There are so many differing opinions on treatments, sometimes it's hard to know what's best. (I guess that's why we're all here - trying to find out more!) I've found many helpful things on your site so far.
Thanks!

Great! Well, if you try it, be sure to let me know how it goes. If it works I'll add it to the FAQ. |

| I've used boric acid suppositories. In fact, I just finished a 3-day course. I find that it works rather well, but that if I use too much (like a large gel-cap packed full) I get cramps that feel rather like menstrual cramps. Now I fill the caps half to 3/4 full and have no adverse reaction. And definitely use a pantyliner. It will leak out of you for a full 24 hours and leaves a yellow crusty stain on your clothes! |
