Interesting.
It is smart to stay close to home when there's a major flu making the rounds. Avoid crowds or using public facilities, etc.
I prefer the Microbial Balancing Solutions from Perelandra over flu shots. The shots are poorly manufactured due to time constaints and usually don't target the correct virus to begin with. And too many have contaminants. So those plus getting plenty of cultured foods are my defense against nasty flus. Haven't had one in ages - yippee! |

I knew someone who died from an allergic reaction to a flu shot. He wasn't much older than me.
I don't like the way they make them one bit - using bird embryos.
Ironic that we are now facing "bird flu".
People - there are only 2 things you need to know when it comes to flu:
1. Flu is a lipid coated virus
2. Coconut oil kills lipid coated viruses
Catch my drift? |

| When ever I think I'm getting sick, I take a glass of water with about 15 drops of GSE, once before I go to bed and again in the morning when I first get up. I have not been sick in almost five years. Is there a connection? |

How much coconut oil would you need to consume to get the protective effect against the flu. Is it enough to just cook with the coconut oil?
I ask because I have small children and it will be a challenge to get it into their diet in large amounts.
I can think of a couple of ways to try - like making a chocolate dipping sauce with it, or actual coconut chocolate. But they hardly promote the healthy eating I want to encourage. I'd appreciate any other ideas. |

For an adult a theraputic amount of coconut oil is between 2 and 4 tablespoons a day, which sounds a lot, but isn't really all that much.
For a child probably 1-3 tablespoons would be ideal.
Don't feel you have to get this much oil inside them everyday - this is just a guideline.
Cooking is probably the easiest way to get coconut oil inside your kids, so cook away. I don't see anything wrong with occasional treats - especially if they are homemade and have some healthy coconut oil inside.
How about a coconut curry (either chicken or prawn) to start you off?
Here is a recipe I am dying to try:

WOW! Fantastic article you found chickpea.
Everyone should read it - then get fermenting!!!
You know lactic acid baceria being anti-viral isn't all that surprising because viral replication occurs (initially) within the mucous membranes, and it is here that the lactic bacteria do their work.
Another anti-viral approach based on this idea is to wash the sinuses - either using water, salt-water, or even xyliotol solution. You can either do the Yogic approach (take water in one nostril and out the other) - perhaps using a neti pot, or you can just use your hand and sniff in then out.
Again the idea is to wash the mucous membranes and keep them moist. Xylitol in particular stops bacteria, viruses from adhering to the mucous membranes. |
