Hi Shelley

Well I finally have the funds so ordered the stuff I have been wanting for a while. I was already taking probiotics, l'gluthamine, biotin, ACV. This week, as I was on holiday I started with the Oxypowder, gradually increasing the dose and it has been working fine. I also started Olive Leaf the week before and added some olive and cod liver oil. I have been eating a good diet - kichadi etc. I've not managed to get the Acid Defence though.
However the pains, which I have discussed with you before in my chest (burning and heavy)and stomach(gurgling, cramping, spasms and sometimes piercing) have become much worse. My throat is burning, radiating up into my ear, glands swollen and I have hoarsness at times. This pain is mostly left sided. I feel really awful. I went down to the docs and as before was told I have acid reflux and 'stress' and give the usual antacids and painkillers. I've not taken them apart from a couple of times in desperation which I'm sure made me feel bad. I also think I am looking 'tanned' (I'm fair skinned)at times and my tongue has a yellow coating. The doc said my colour and bloods were fine. I just had Scott take a look at me and he thinks my colour is the same as usual but I can see it . Funny thing is that my nails are feeling and looking much better.
I received my Emergen C this morning but wondering whether I should take any though I feel I need it. I'm concerned about the acid.

As ever Shelley I would appreciate your advice, thanks.

Emergen-C is buffered, it does not add a lot of acid to your system. That's why I recommend it. Only unbuffered C will increase stomach acids.

The yellow and pain are very telling of liver heat. I'd start doing mini liver-flushes every morning for a week and see what that does, and take a spoonful of ACV in warm water and honey or warm apple cider 3-5x a day. A mini-liver flush is where you take 2 tablespoons of oil first thing in the morning, chase it with a Cleansing Drink or lemonade or diluted grapefruit juice. Then keep drinking peppermint tea, or Eater's Digest tea with fennel. If you have a sensation of fullness, definitely drink the Eater's Digest tea (see Sources forum for a link). If peppermint tea makes your symptoms worse, stop drinking it - it's a sign that you are too dry and acidic and need moistening therapy.

Try this too: get a supplement of Calcium Carbonate and take 500 mg. See if that takes away the pain. If it does, the pain is indeed due to too much acid, and since most of your pain is one-sided, you must have a problem with calcium/magnesium or something similar, and so taking calcium should help this too. Much cheaper than Acid Defense, which I still recommend IF the calcium test proves positive.

Let me know how things go - keep posting to this post so I know the history - this will take some tinkering! Good luck!

Hi Shelley

I'm so glad I can take the Emergen C. When's the best time to take this? I will do the mini flush easy enough but don't think I will be able to get the calcium carbonate round here as I did try before I think.

Also I meant to say that for the the last couple of nights I have been taking a wee shot glass of olive and cod liver oils chased with a wee drop of pink grapefruit juice. Last night I experienced a rumbling under my right ribs, not for very long but this is the first time I have had any funny feelings on that side. About a half an hour later while in bed I had worse pain than usual under my left ribs and round to my back as though I had really bad gas that wouldn't budge. It was really scary.

I have done the Oxypowder for the last week and am going to change to Triphala for the coming week. Do you think that would be ok?

Also the only apple cyder vinegar I can get is Aspall's. I'm not sure how good this is after reading a post somewhere but that's the best we have here.

I'm going to do a castor oil pack tonight on my liver area. Hope thaty's ok to do.

Thanks again Shelley Smile

The castor oil pack is just about always a good idea, very safe. Smile

You can take the Triphala while you're taking the Oxy-powder, they don't conflict, they have very different actions. So feel free to overlap as you switch. It may help to get the dose right.

Okay, a bit of oil should be chased with a LOT of juice. And I recommend doing it in the morning so that you soon have a regular meal with fiber to chase the toxins that get released out of the intestines. If you do it before bed, they just sit there! And that's no good, as you can see from the discomfort you've been experiencing. It's also smart to aid digesting this oil by taking it with a bit of garlic, ginger, cayenne, or take digestive enzymes after the juice drink.

Emergen-C can be taken at any time it's convenient for you, but it's best early in the day because it can be so very energizing and may keep you up at night if you take it late.

Calcium Carbonate is the easiest kind of calcium supplement to find. If you see a bottle in the drugstore that says Calcium, chances are it's calcium carbonate! Smile

Good luck! Smile

Thanks Shelley

I was probably just reading the bottle labels. I'll check the bottle I have in the cupboard which may be the right thing. I actually got up and did this now and guess what - I have the carbonate (was in small writing) Crikey Shelley I need led by the hand don't I? Confused Sorry about that.

Well I'm all set then. I will leave the oil until the morning as you say and do it properly.

I am off to get my hot water bottle and castor oil ready as time for bed here.

Thanks again

Hi Shelley

Here I am reporting in. I have had a very bad day at work. The pain was bad, especially my throat and I was quite hoarse - thank goodness I didn't have any calls to do or meetings.
I started the day with warm water with ACV then the mini flush. I forgot about the peppermint tea. I had kichadi for breakfast and lunch but a bit disappointed to read somewhere that basmati rice is acidic. Is kichadi ok for me to eat just now Question - hope so. I took the calcium but not sure if I felt any better with it. I will try to pay more attention to that tomorrow.
I have continued with l'gluthamine, probiotics and aloe vera juice and also took emergen c today.
I had some saurkraut at teatime - shop bought and a bit worried about the salt content but I just loved it. I hope this is ok to eat Question
I bought some pH strips and tested tonight - over two hours after eating - saliva 6.25 and urine 7.5. Are these readings ok Question
Earlier I did a bit of rebounding and gave myself a good dry brushing, had a nice warm bath then lay down with a castor oil pack on my chest. When I do the mini flush should I put some juiced ginger in with the oil Question
My shoulders are sore and my throat and tongue feel very dry and wish I could do something to soothe. I have gurgles coming up my throat and a horrible taste. I have a cramp like pain under my left rib, pain in my back, feel as though I've pulled my stomach muscles - Well Shelley I'll not go on.

Sorry for all the questions yet again, but really appreciate your advice.

Cheers

basmati rice acidic?????? Nought of the sort! Kichadi has an alkaline affect on the body, don't worry about what you read. Simply add more veggies if you're worried about it.

Sauerkraut is great!

Yep, those readings are fine. Take them several times a day to see how much they fluctuate.

ginger, or garlic, or cayenne, or follow with peppermint or ginger tea, or all of the above can be added to your mini-flush to make it easier to digest.

HOO boy that doesn't sound fun. Sounds like you have an abstruction of some kind somewhere, which would mean you need gentle laxative/bulk fiber like flax seed tea. Eater's Digest tea would also be good - something with fennel, peppermint, ginger, to help things move along.

You might want to take a day off tomorrow and just eat very bland, very simple foods in small amounts, along with the usual digestive teas, until you feel a bit better. Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks Shelley

Glad to hear about the kichadi as I really like it and can eat it any time- Scott likes it too so that's a bonus! I had to ask after reading that on a list.
Unfortunately I can't take the day off, but luckily I'm in a pretty easy job at the moment. I'm on flexi time also, so can leave quite early if I need to. I am going to eat very small meals today as you suggest. I'm making veggie soup for lunch but will only take in a wee drop and have some more when I get home. I feel I need to 'graze' through the day at work but never manage to prepare the right foods to do that.
I mentioned to the doc that I felt as though something was 'stuck' but she said that was most unlikely. I've never had the flax seed tea. I'll look it up in your FAQ. I've never seen Eater's Digest either. What would be a good alternative if I couldn't get that Question
Well Shelley after my body brushing and castor oil pack last night I now have spots on my chest. Hope that's a good thing. If so I'll do that again.
I also meant to mention that I have prickly eyes and sore ears especially the left one.

Well I'm off to have my olive oil combo! Laughing

Both Yogi Tea and Traditional Medicinals have a version of the Eater's Digest, so check both brands. It should have peppermint, ginger, fennel, cinnamon. If you can't find it, just get a fennel or rhubarb tea and mix with your peppermint/ginger tea. I put in 2-3 teabags of different herbs in a cup all the time to "doctor" it or make it taste better.

Yep, that IS a good sign that things are MOVing, which is what we want.

Prickly eyes and sore ears has a lot to do with congested liver and being overly acidic, which happens when the liver and kidneys are overwhelmed. Best thing to do is drink lots of fluids and take Calcium, cleansing drink and/or a bit of baking soda to give the body alkalines/base to neutralize those acids.
