I just made your protein shake and it was very yummy! You wrote the protein shake is ok during cleansing, would it be ok for anti candida diet although the rice milk has sugar? I can't wait to try all your recipes!! Thanks a bunch! Very Happy

It's better if you use Kefir instead of rice milk if you have had candida, or a blend of each, OR wait until you've been on the anti-candida diet for at least 3 months and have already done your anti-fungals.

And when you drink the protein shake, be sure to have it alone, not with any fiber, as the fiber will deliver the sugars to the small intestine where candida can have its fun. Drinking it alone will ensure that digestion happens almost completely in the tummy, where there is no candida. If you've gotten rid of candida imbalances everywhere but your colon you are then pretty safe to have these kind of carbs.

I did just fine on the rice milk after 3 months on a very pure candida diet and had it every day for breakfast for a long time with no return of vaginitis or anything, but Troy McClure did not do okay with it, so it's an individual type thing. Monitor your symptoms and see how you do. Smile

Would it be ok if i could cut down the protein shake to once a week because i already bought all the ingredients. Plus it's too good to give up. Can't i have a little treat while on my anti-candida diet? Twisted Evil

Go by what your body tells you. It could be fine for every-other day, you just gotta experiment and see! Smile So long as you drink it alone when you're REALLY hungry with plenty of cinnamon, which candida really hates, you should be fine for frequent treats. Smile

Candida hates cinammon? Hmmmm, that's good to know. I love it. I put it in all my breads and muffins and waffles. I'm making carrot/quinoa muffins very soon and intend to use cinammon liberally. How does candid feel about nutmeg? LOL

They hate it. That's why what I call "pungent therapy" (in the FAQ) is so important. It's not so much what you eat but how you prepare it. Like you want to eat more fruit, that's fine, just be sure to eat it spiced! Pears are wonderful with a dash of nutmeg, cinnamon and ground cloves, for instance, andn plums go well wtih cardamom. Papaya and mango are very tasty with lime and cayenne pepper, or chili powder.

I'm told to hold off on the peppers/tomato/berries right now save for white pepper and black peppercorns (not ground, but whole as used in soups to infuse flavor). It's the phenols which I have too much of in my system right now, but the RN I'm seeing did say that if I do have some phenol foods in moderation, to be sure to have extra sulfur foods/supplements to compensate. I'm waaaaayyyyy out of balance. So, I wondered if I had some papaya, which is sulfrous, and had it with lime and a little cayenne, that might be okay. I know cayenne is great for gut issues. Or, if I have mango, which is neutral and mostly hypoallergenic, I could have a side of sliced radish (sulfrous) with it and some cayenne on it. Can you tell I'm missing my hot and spicy spices???? LOL

that sounds like a great plan!

One radish with a bit of salt is a great aid to digestion. A good "amuse bouche" or first course. Wink I keep forgetting to buy them. Hmmmmmm.

Where does grapefruit fit into all this? The RN I'm working with (for mercury toxicity issues) instructed me to eat grapefruit each day. Any pungents go well with grapefruit, or is it astringent enough that it doesn't pose too great a candida issue, like blueberries and cranberries?

it's very astringent, so no need to spice it up. Smile

Grapefruit is easy to digest, and has tons of Folic Acid - the B vitamin that keeps us younger longer.
