what do u guys make of it> theres talk of this 811 thing which is basically eating mainly fruits and other veg to make up 80% carbs 10% fat and 10% protein from calories.
they reckon the way to heal candida is to cut out some of the higher sugar fruit and most fats to bring under control.. sounds a bit too easy to me but what are your thoughts?
i must admit since i started eating lots of fruit i have become more regular (bm) wise and my foul smelling stool and gas has gone. also if you read my posts previously i said tht i've been passing most likely parasites after my liver flush.. it could be that my liver is stronger and was able to shake them off or it could be that since upping the percentage of my diet to raw or close to raw my body is more oxygenated and not a very good host to amoebia

whoops I went and deleted the second post but the first post has a bad URL too! Do you have the correct URL?
Some people do great with raw fruit even tho they have candida. Go figure! But it doesn't work for everyone. And it only works if you do not combine the fruit with anything else.
Most people with candida have such weakened digestions, the main cause for candida, that to eat tons of raw would totally deplete them. |

.. i thought i'd use myself as a test bed. i've done so far 16 months of anti-candida diet and 3 months of anti-fungal practice including bowel cleansing. just started liver flushing. i do get digestion problems and bloatedness. i think from what i've found so far a little bit is ok but too much in one go like they're suggesting can take its toll and you get a little bloated again. my skin is getting drier again too.
this is the site again:
http://www.doctorgraham.cc/
have a look at the faq and there is one there regarding candida. there is also a forum
http://www.vegsource.com/talk/raw/index.html
just wondering if anyone tried it and how would it affect the liver flushes

| well it's certainly not balanced, and that's never a good idea for long-term, and it doesn't take body type into consideration. I'd die of cold after two days on their diet. |

Hey!
I actually did that diet for about 6 months back when I was a raw vegan. I was trying to combat candida and acne. I can tell you it was one of the hardest times of my life. It was a horrible diet for me, and only made my problems worse. I tried so hard to make it work, I even paid the blasted $100, 20 minute consultation with Dr. Graham.
I spent over a year in the raw vegan community. Some people swore by the 80-10-10 diet (especially if you stick to it for life) though most found it too unbalanced. I imagine it would be decent to do short-term. The most popular raw "guru" for helping with candida was Gabriel Counsens. I followed his diet for quite a while too and found it to be very helpful and relatively balanced.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Blessings,
Shawna |

hi, so what was the logics behind his diet? what sort of things did he recommend? i've heard of him too but never seen much of his work. could you give a low down as to what sort of things he recommends.
i used to be a weight trainer and combo of ill health and the diet bought it all to a standstill and since becoming vegatarian mainly i have lost all my weight. i want to start again once i've done a few more liver flushes but i want to do it naturally as pos. these sites and the book Raw Power caught my attention on raw food and bodybuilding but as shelly said it seems very unbalanced. what is the point of going all raw if its only short term? i think that the best thing for the body is to balance it and keep it that way.

Are you asking about Cousens' diet?
He focuses on the elimination of high-glycemic foods while trying to battle acute cases of candida. He promotes lots of veggies and greens, green juices, soaked and sprouted nuts and seeds, coconuts, oils, non-sweet fruit (cucs, tom, avo, etc.), and some soaked and sprouted grains. He also allows dehydrated foods. A good book to get for his diet is Rainbow Green Live Food Cuisine. He even allows for a bit of cooked food for people that are less congested. It might be worth looking at!
Happy to help!
Blessings,

| mmmmmmm, raw food diets make me wonder sometimes. . .like shelley says.. this may be fine for people with solid digestive power but poor old candida people have very poor digestive power. Spleen qi is most likely to be very deficient and people are harbouring a lot of dampness. Dont make it harder for yourself. Easily digestible food is surely the way to go. |

my candida actually took over when i switched to the raw diet! i believe it was because of three combined conditions: 1) i had taken antibiotics 10 years ago, 2) the raw diet oftten gets one to eating ALOT of sweet fruit + dried fruit (even though i soaked it all) , 3) i began taking a B12 supplement not knowing that the B12 was coming from nutritional YEAST. Im guessing it was all the bananas + figs combined with that YEAST that triggered the Candida.
A diet of mostly raw foods (and mostly vegetables, not sweet fruit!), supplemented with raw egg yolks, fermented raw goats milk (yogurt, kefir), raw saltless homemade sauerkraut, soaked nuts and seeds, a little bit of coconut oil + olive oil...this is what ive been up to and feel much more nourished and mentally stable.
Although the candida and constipation has driven me to a weakness Ive never known before |

jules,
nutritional yeast doesn't cause candida, any more than taking acidophilus causes a strep infection.
You sound like an interesting case because of all the people who spout on about raw being *the* cure for candida, when in fact in your case it probably precipitated it.
I certainly think the sweet & dried fruit contributed. Could it be that because you weren't getting enough complex carbs, that you had to get your energy from (natural) sugars?? I think that was probably the biggest factor in your case. |

actually, candida is often warned about when people switch to fruitarian diets or high-raw diets with tons of fruit. you might be right...in that case, i probably still dont get enough complex carbs...i've been watching my intake with fitday.com...without trying my carb intake on raw was easily around 80% a day. now without the fruit, its like 20% if i'm lucky with fat and protein taking the lead!
it's so hard to believe that it was all the fruit that did it. the last i took antibiotics was like 10 years ago! accutane about 5 years ago, but i dont think thats an antibiotic is it?
its hiliarious because the respected www.waisays.com and www.freeacnebook.com (run by wai) has a nice raw diet to rid of all acne and cellulite, and i was following that (except i was eating greens too, which she doesnt recommend). it was working...but all the fruit led me to this, and now im getting worse again |
