| I think I am having a problem with the emergen C. I was taking it a week ago (1 packet once a day) and my knee was killing me for the 3 days I was taking it. I laid off for a few days and today after taking it I have almost like a siatica pain that runs from neck down to my left elbow. Definately feels like siatica. Could the emergen C be triggering something? I think it is more than coincidence. Thanks for your insight! |

Yes, it could be! either as a healing crisis, or because some other mineral that you are very short on is now more out of balance.
Usually sciatica type pain is due to zinc/potassium imbalance, which Emergen-C has both of so you'd get out of balance perhaps due to the diuretic effect of vitamin C or because you're getting tons of potassium somewhere else but not tons of zinc (emergen-c has very little zinc, not enough really).
It's also a problem to take Emergen-C without also taking calcium, as C is acid and Calcium is alkaline. Taking C without also taking calcium means you're making your body/cell pH more acidic. It's not good to only partially follow my advice, everything is recommended in balance and only doing a few of the recommendations takes you out of balance. |

I "thought" I was following your protocols pretty well!!! Thanks to your advice I drink kefir, take clorophyll, take a super food, dry skin brush, rebound, take the coptis and bitters, have an egg every morning and after reading many posts, thought I should take the emergen c. My diet is very good as I eat lots of organic fruits and veggies. Thus, I thought I was getting a lot of calcium and minerals. I have taken 2 3000 mg. of vit c a day(from Roex) for years. I never had a problem with vitamin c. The formula in Emergen C is bothering me (I think).
I took it a couple of days a week. What am I doing wrong here? |

| By the way, you have helped me to feel the best I have felt in about 20 years. I was suffering from anxiety and mood swings. I don't know what balanced me but something is working. I feel GREAT!!! So , if Emergen C doesn't work for me, I'll toss it. Everything else you taught me has!! |

LOL! That's great that you're doing so much better!
Yep, if you've been taking 6,000 mg of Vit C for years, you don't need emergen-C! In fact, stop all C for awhile. Let your body equalize and stop working so hard to balance pH. If you mega-dose C for a long time, the body learns to shed C quickly so you end up being more deficient than overdosed, and start experiencing symptoms of deficiency!
It's really really tough to get enough calcium strictly from diet unless you're drinking two glasses of raw milk or cultured milk a day, plus 4 ounces of cheese. To get the equivelent from veggies means eating no less than a full cup of cilantro, or an entire pound of broccoli and a huge serving of spinach. Not easy! |

| So, in what instances would you take emergen c? If it is not really something to take every day, when would you take it? Also, if you do take it, what kind of calcium should be taken with it? |

I always recommend cal-mag fizz. You'll see a link in the Amazon Sources post in the Sources forum.
I recommend Emergen-C because it does support the body so well - that's been proved, both with Linus Pauling's research into C and what we know about electrolytes, which Emergen-C has.
HOWEVER, it's also one of those things that is very much determined by body type/genetics and previous supplement/diet history. Certain body types, ones that tend towards estrogen imbalances like ovarian cysts, do very poorly with Vit C supplementation.
The rest of us do fantastic if we do a 3 day Vitamin C flush (Emergen-C 1 to 4 times a day for 3 days) and then take it like 2-4 times a week from then on. And of course if we're juicing we don't really need it. |

Hi Shelley,
You mentioned people with ovarian cysts (which I had--removed by surgery) do very poorly on Vit. C supplements. Can you explain this in more deal. What happens? I had taken Emergen-C about a year ago and it made me feel like I was on speed. I never took it again. I think now with this new regimen it would benefit me cause I am sometimes tired.
I have a unrelated question. I am doing the oxy powder, but I can handle doing it while fasting. I am so tired I have no energy to make anything. I was woundering if I can add some solid food, what can I add. Can you give me exact kind of food. For an example if you say add some fiber tell me exactly what kind. I am not good in that area. I use to think fiber type foods where just foods like oatmeal, wheat bead, and brans. Well I am guessing if I stick to low fiber that would only be protein foods?
Thanks and God Bless

Go to www.acu-cell.com and read up on vitamin C, potassium and zinc. It explains there.
If you feel really tired during a fast you should drink something, not eat. A cleansing drink or smoothie or protein shake or rice/nut milk or veggie broth. |
