|
|
Hi Shelley/anyone,
I have coconut, sesame and a combination oil consisting of flax, hemp, evening primrose oil and pumpkin (like Udo's). Which would be the best to apply to my skin which tends to get dry and I also have a tendency to lots of small spider veins, especially on my upper thighs (lovely!). Also I presume skin brushing doesn't make spider veins worse?
Thanks!

Hi Anne!
Dry brushing should help with spider veins actually because it increases circulation. The best thing for spider veins is to eat plenty of garlic and onion. Ever have French onion soup? Great cure for spider veins. Blueberries and other dark berries and cherries too. They all have plant chemicals that help veins rebuild properly.
I just posted in Vital Kitchen about Avocados and how to use them as a moisturizer for dry skin now that it's winter. Check that out. You may want to add coconut oil or pure sesame to the avocado.
Be sure to eat a good amount of oils, so your skin has something to work with, too. coconut is great in the winter because it helps the immune system so much. |

Thanks Shelley,
Mmmmmm, definitely feel an attraction towards onion soup Just bought some sugar-free blueberry fruit spread today too! Presumably it's the bioflavonoids in those foods that help strengthen the veins? Cheers

Got it in one! Yep, flavanoids, something I like to overdose on when blueberries come in season and are relatively cheap. There will be a Flavanoid Salad recipe in the FAQ, so look out for that one. |

Mmm! Count me in on that blueberry harvest! I think I could live on blueberries and avocados (what a bad avocado season we had last year, though. One bad one after another. Darn.)
Shelley, how is grapeseed extract as a defense against spider veins? With me, I have a spidery tendency on my cheeks and nose. (and what dose would you recommend?)
Thanks very much.

nope, no grapeseed extract. You can use grapeseed oil, it's a nice clean oil, nice change from olive, but the extract carries risks. it has a plant chemical that if not dealt with correctly is toxic. And since there are plenty of other options that do the same thing it does, and cheaper, it's not worth the risk.
Spider veins that are only on the face usually mean exposure to extreme heat or cold. Saunas can cause them if the steam gets too close/hot, and cold winds can cause it if your skin is not protected by good oils or something like Nivea cream or vaseline. |

Hello Shelley ... Hope u're well ??
Is it ok to apply Vaseline on the lips instead of a lipgloss (to moisturize and keep shiny ) or is that a bad idea since vaseline is so thick ??
Thanks in advance |

Gah, Im still stuck with these spider veins.
Im at a loss as what to do.
I have one red onion and some garlic each day in salads or cooked food.
Have berries in my juices and take BSM + ACV for the minerals (calcium) and plenty of organic citrus for the vit C but they just wont go away!
Anything else I can try Shelley? |

Unfortunately, once you get them, it's nearly impossible to get rid of them. I've heard of some creams working but don't know of any particular brand to recommend.
Also, you need to make sure you're getting adequate copper and Vit D. when veins burst easily, there can be a copper deficiency going on, very common now that we've stopped using copper pans. NYF and wheat germ has copper and organ meats are high in copper. Some chocolates and coffees are high in copper depending on where they come from. A 3mg pill taken for 30 days should take care of it. Getting adequate calcium and potassium really helps too. |

I'd read about copper and was hoping to get enough from the BSM.
I might go back on to cod liver oil for a bit as the sun is still resisting a return.
I might trying a good herbal tonic of horse chestnut and butchers broom. Should help with my circulation as well I hope! |

Shelley, Can u please elaborate on this statement??
Since I took grapeseed extract last year for a whole month, I'm worried now ... 'cause thats's EXACTLY when when all my digestive problems started !!!
Thanks so much |

Arrrgh!
Now they've started appearing in my eye sockets and they're really obvious.
This is so damn annyoing, nothing I do is working. Its not like I use saunas or hot showers.
My BSM should be giving me plenty of everything, along with cod liver oil and being in the sun.
Ive heard of a supplement called 'venarin' which I might have to buy and try. I dont understand whats happening, or what they're getting bigger. Dammit! |

have you had your thyroid checked? I don't nkow what BSM is. If you're not getting at least the RDA for copper, chromium, nickel... then you aren't doing your veins enough good.
Do they tend to be one-sided or all over? If all over, then cleanse your liver/bowels more and do the stomach acid test. |
