| Recently you spoke of how too much calcium supplements can be a problem. I know that it is hard to OD on vit C. But what about B supplements such as B12, B5 and B6, I know a lot of people take these but is there anyway you can take too much per day or for too long? |

There's always a chance to get too much of a good thing. Balance is key. Too much is just as bad as too little. Before you take any vitamin, it's best to be aware of the signs of toxicity, which are often the same as getting too little because the body works so hard to shed the excess that it goes into deprivation. The site www.acu-cell.com is the best online resource when it comes to vitamins. Anyone who takes vitamins should read this site!
B vitamins were touted as a cure for stress, but in fact if you overdose on B vits you will CAUSE tons of stress to the body. If you persistently take B's you will also inhibit thyroid hormone! argh! This is why I recommend eating Nutritional Yeast Flakes (half a scoop) semi-regularly in protein shakes and smoothies. You get your B's but they are in balance. |

| Shelley does the amount of B vitamins (and which ones) in nutritional yeast flakes vary a lot per brand? I have a cheap bag from the health food store and all it says on it is Nutritional Yeast Flakes. I know that Kal, for example, tells you exactly what it in their NYF and how much. I was considering taking a B-vitamin supplement instead so that I know what I'm getting (I don't think I can get Kal here?). |

| they vary by batch, but it doesn't really matter. You can go by the label on Kal (easily found online) for a good idea as to the general amounts in a scoop. |
