SINUS INFECTION

Hi Shelley,

I don't know for sure, but I believe my oldest son may be suffering
from a sinus infection......he used to just get the "normal" sinus
headaches, he'd take a few anti-histimines....and it would be gone.....
but recently, it's gotten much worse! He'll be at work, always at
the same time of night too, and it starts up, really bad! It starts out
like your average sinus headache, but then really gets going! It hits
him over the left eye, and goes down under the left eye, and then goes
around the back of the head........he insists on taking 5 Advil, PLUS
these anti-histimines in one gulp...........what ELSE can he do here to
first stop these headaches, and then to prevent this in the future..?

I had suggested that he swish with olive oil for 15 minutes a day, -
I've been doing that thing myself for a few days now...and when I
spit it out it's that milky white stuff.......so that's good!......I wonder
if that would help him too?

Oh man, anti-histimines are evil! They dry up the sinuses and make it impossible for them to get rid of any bacteria, so ultimately they cause infection more than they relieve it. And pain pills kill the kidneys.

The best cure for sinuses is to irrigate them. You can just use you hand and cup warm salted water, but it's awkward and annoying. Best thing to do is to get a Neti Pot setup. Other cultures use this all the time, our culture never learned and Big Pharm ain't about to educate us. Sigh. In the Sources forum is a link to a Neti Pot setup called SinuCleanse. It's so cheap there's no excuse for not getting one. We should all be cleansing our sinuses regularly. If we did we'd never suffer.
