I'd read just recently your reply in another post in the Candida section:
Quote:
Over-reaction to chemicals is usually due to too much congestion in the bowels, liver and lymph, and too little Vitamin A and other anti-oxidants. Too much mucus production is also lack of Vitamin A and skin food. So definitely consider taking cod liver oil, EmergenC, a good colloidal mineral supplement or something like Masters II, and zinc.

That was refreshing and really backed up my suspicions of my symptoms as of late. I started acupuncture and Candida diet on November 1st, and had been gradually stepping up what I'd add to my diet to help cleanse me out. As you say, Candida is a symptom of a body that needs balancing.

A couple of weeks back, I posted to this section about how I had eaten too much raw garlic and got a dry throat as a result. Later, I got swollen lymphs and lots of oozing congestion in my throat, and a small amount in my sinuses.

This has been going on along with occaisional blood blisters in my mouth (also posted about a couple weeks back) and a recent heavy neck and face rash that lasted a week(again, also posted about), among other odd symptoms that came and went for the past 3-4 weeks, with little letup or breathing room in between.

Then, some old symptoms of allergies showed up last week and it dawned on me that there is such thing as too much of a good thing. LOL!! I had detoxed to the point my lymphs and liver could not keep up and the backup was causing old symptoms to return. Symptoms that drove me to begin detoxing in the first place.

After a few weeks of constant battle with lymph congestion, despite proper care, dry brushing, rebounding, slant board, thymus thumping and acupressure on my lymphs and sinuses, it finally dawned on me that I was doing too much. I felt fine, even fabulous, from the chest down, but from the shoulders up I was clogged and always felt like I was mildly choking. This inhibited my trips to the gym, my appetite or getting any real work done. It even took my voice away as I was shedding so much garbage through my throat that it made me sound like a frog. LOL

So, here's what I did. I refreshed myself with your FAQ on pungents and backed off excessive amounts of antifungals like kefir and coconut oil, too much cod liver oil (as you suggested), went off the alpha-lipoic acid for the time being. I increased my intake of foods that my body craved, such as spices and lots of fresh salsas and olive oil and butter/ghee. Clean astringent foods. More radishes and herb teas, or warm water with some lemon. Ginger. After just the first day of including cleansing carrot salad into my diet, I felt most of my allergic symptoms disappear. My homeopath did a microcurrent treatment on my liver as well to help stimulate it to clean out.

Whaddya know?? You were right. I felt better within just a couple of days! I'm still clearing my throat throughout the day as the junk drains. But, my quality of life has greatly improved. And, I'm so far not reacting so strongly to good healing foods, but can really tell they are working on my system. I spent a good steady slow two hours at the gym, yesterday, and it was fabulous!

With acupuncture and microcurrent giving my body a regular jolt to heal itself, and with the type of diet I eat (not simply for detoxifying, but for living in general), and good regular exercise, my body doesn't need too much of any one thing right now to help it heal. It needs a balance of things that are found primarily in good organic foods, oils/fats and herbs/spices, and it seems to work just fine with that, right now. When I need a little more, I take some Emergen-C and maybe a small extra glass of kefir (yummy). Taking my spoonful of cod liver oil when my throat feels irritated is really soothing, too.

Note on the throat draining: I had suffered with horrible sinus infections for years, frequent swollen glands and sore throats, lots of antibiotics taken until I learned about avoiding dairy and breads and learning salt water irrigation to help heal them up. I do not find it at all unusual that I am now experiencing frequent drainage through my throat and back of sinuses, even while experiencing much greater energy over the rest of my body. It feels like I'm purging out all the years of infection, a decade's worth! and I have to be careful not to help the process along too much, otherwise my throat gets so gummy and swollen that I truly want to put my head through a brick wall! LOL

Anyway, thanks for sharing such vital and common sense information, Shelley. It has numerous times in the last few months helped me to make sense of this process my body is going through, and has helped me fine tune my approach and learn how to read my body much better than I ever have before.

Muchas Gracias!

That's fantastic! Way to go! Very Happy

Thanks for taking the time to post your success story, it really helps others to hear that balance CAN be achieved and detoxing CAN be a comfortable experience.

And I'm so glad I could be of assistance. Smile

Ya, I think that's my mistake. I got ahead of myself and put too much on my system. I don't mind spending the next how ever many weeks or months with a little extra phlegm in my throat while my body cleans out. But, I shouldn't be detoxing to the point that my lymphs are miserable. Finding that balance is important, I now realize. Otherwise, I just put the process in reverse.

Good thing to note is that just because I start feeling some of my old symptoms, doesn't mean I'm starting from scratch in the healing process all over again. So far it seems possible to get back on track within a number of days, so long as I am gentle with myself.

Sometimes, you can get to feeling really great for a couple of weeks and think that you HAVE to add something new to push your system along. Then you end up getting to feeling really crappy most of the time, and when that big detox wave hits, the day(s) where you think you're coming down with the flu or a cold, you feel THAT MUCH WORSE. That happened to me last week.

I decided to focus on exercise, good diet in general, the regular digestive and immune supplements I'm already on, dry brushing, once weekly sauna sweating, and let the extra acupuncture and microcurrent do the major stimulating of my system to clean itself. I'm gonna not add anything new and just do this for the next month and see how I feel. It was when I started adding all the extras that I got in over my head, and apparently it's just not necessary. Who knew things so simple (and inexpensive) could be so powerful! As you say,
