As most of my readers know, I am not a big supporter of soy products apart from lecithin. They're not that nutritious, not that tasty, plus they reduce thyroid activity and increase estrogen levels. Basically, the popularity of tofu as a health food was a fraud perpetuated on an unsuspecting public by very good spin doctors.

It's gotten to the point where they're cutting down the Amazon forest in order to grow soybeans. This releases harmful greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and increases global warming. Vegetarians claim to care more about the planet than most, but they're destroying it faster than meat eaters!

Be sure to spread the word - if you wish to eat soy products, make sure they come from some place other than the Amazon! Boycott all Amazonian tofu, tempeh, and the companies that use Amazonian soy products!

Hi there! I was reading the Super Baby Food book and it says you can introduce yofu beginning at 7 months. Would you recommend this? It sounds already like you wouldn't but I just wanted to make sure.

I am trying to raise my baby w/as little meat in his diet as possible and I am looking for protein replacement. I give him avocados everyday for the good fats. What else would you recommend?

TIA!

Maria

..also - Soy is one of the most "Genetically Modified" products in the US.
They use more pesticides/herbicides on genetically modified crops (i.e RoundUp Ready..thanks to Monsanto, etc)

The plants genes are modified using bacteria/fungas.
People have already been found to be allergic to GM produce for misc reasons...
A good film on this is "Future of Food" (2004)
http://www.thefutureoffood.com/
i.e...myslef & others that I know have less allergies in France (just one example)...but World Trade Organization is pressuring other countries to use GM seeds.

Most people are unaware that about 70% of crops grown here are GM..conveniently unlabeled as such...mostly corn, cotton, soy.
aaah, capitalism...

They are finding it nearly impossible to contain the GM crops from mixing with non-GM.

Monsanto is also PATENTING GM seeds, then sueing poor family farmers when the GM seeds blow into the famers' fields...

Just ONE reason I support/buy Organic.

I detest Monsanto.

I know people gotta do what they gotta do to find work and survive, but I would starve and go homeless before working for Monsato or DuPont or a number of other companies.
