Hi Shelley,

I've been following the candida protocol and trying to do some liver support but have a few issues that still remain.

Lately I've eliminated all fruit and nuts as I feel the fruit isn't working with the candida and the nuts are too difficult to digest. I'm eating mainly quinoa, basmati (1-2 cups per day) with spices and possibly a brown rice tortilla 1x per day. I eat only fish or organic turkey or chicken but in small amounts, maybe 3-6 ozs total per day. The rest of my diet is either salads or veggies (no potatoes). My doctor told me he thinks my liver is congested so I just started on lecithin again and now take digestive enzymes with meals. My issue is that I'm still struggling with constipation, weight gain, bloating, gas a reoccurence of athletes foot and vaginal infections (mostly bacterial I think).

I'm doing enemas 3x per week and doing retention enemas afterward with acidophilus. I've been adding fiber drinks throughout the day and find I'm incredibly constipated even though I drink a minimum of 90 ozs per day.

Lastly, I'm exhausted all the time. I've taken my temperature and it's never the same but up and down between 95 - 97 degrees.

I'm looking for some additional suggestions.

Thanks,
Janie

Okay, what exactly are you calling constipation? Are you going once a day at least when you don't do enemas for a week? Do you have to strain? Are the stools dry and compacted? If you're doing enemas every-other day, then you won't necessarily have stools in between. Enemas clean out lots and lots. It takes me a day, sometimes two, to have a BM after a good enema.

If you're eating whole foods every day chances are you don't need to supplement more fiber. It could be you simply can't pass all the fiber you're eating currently. It's like lifting weights. We all have our limits.

You didn't mention taking any oils or other liver cleansers besides lecithin. Lecithin will help to clean the liver, definitely, but you have to cleanse comprehensively and have everythign work together. And you won't produce bile, or peristaltic action, without the right dose of oils. See the FAQ for more options as to cleansing the liver and curing constipation, you still need to take herbs etc. A lot of people simply have to eat more oils and take a bit of taurine, massage their abdomens, walk more, while others need to increase bile, etc.

if you're prone to athelete's foot, that means your body's electrolyte balance is way off, skewed towards phosphorus. That means you have to supplement calcium for awhile, preferably in combo with magnesium. Chances are good that you're low in both. Being low in magnesium will cause dry stools that take a long time to pass. I recommend Cal-Mag Fizz but really any cal-mag combo will do so long as you're only taking 250 to 500 mg of calcium at a single time. Shouldn't take more than that at one time.

So... Cal-Mag Fizz, Eater's Digest Tea, just one cup a day should do it, but only take it if you're not planning to do an enema that day. You shouldn't mix laxatives and enemas together. Peppermint/Ginger tea the rest of the time. And one bottle of either Livatone Plus or Bupleurum Liver Cleanse or the tinctures from sensiblehealth.com. And the Cleansing Carrot Salad is an awesome cleanser.

Be sure to occasionally drink kefir or take live acidophilus supplements. The small intestine needs probiotics too, and enemas don't get up there.

The fAQ also has notes on what to do for vaginitis.

Hope that helps! Smile

Hi Shelley,

This is very helpful. I was told by my doctor to increase magnesium which I'm doing but not cal-mag together. The magnesium has been helping with the slow bowel movements. Should I just switch over to the cal-mag? What's the proper amount of the two to take per day? Is it to bowel tolerance? You also mentioned the oils, roughly how much per day?

I'm having a hard time with passing gas too. It seems worse after dinner in particular. I'm more bloated with gas for the remainder of the evening. I take digestive enzymes with dinner and every meal. Do you think I may need HCL too? That's usually the meal where I have my protein (fish or chicken). I wasn't sure if it was because of food combining or not. I've tried protein with and without quinoa or basmati and either way I have gas. Is that a sign of too little acid or too much?

Also, should I not eat basmati unless it's with really pungent spices but quinoa is okay without? Basmati is best with pungent spices and beans?

What are your thoughts on amalgam removal during all of this? I've been told I have excess copper.

I'm struggling with the cold body temps all the time and now know I have adrenal issues. My temps range from 95.5-97.2. I know it's not thyroid but more adrenals.

And finally I'm looking for your thoughts on weight loss. I've put on so much weight since I started. What do you suggest for my diet to start reducing weight?

Thanks so much for this, it's greatly appreciated.

Janie

Okay, just answered most of these questions in my other post to you, but here are a couple more things:

Is the gas the smelly kind or the kind that doesn't really smell? IF it's the kind that doesn't really smell, then you either need more stomach acids or smaller meals or Baking Soda therapy. Take 1/2 a teaspoon. You can mix it in water and take apart from meals, or put in a gelatin pill, whatever. Take the 1/2 teaspoon 3-5 days always apart from meals.

If the gas is smelly then you're not digesting proteins and that's a lack of bile, already addressed in other post.

Taking calcium will regulate the copper.

Quinoa is fine without spices, altho for you just about everything is better with some kind of spice.

Feeling cold and athelete's foot all happen when the body is severely deficient in calcium and high in phosphorus. So the calcium should help with that. Then it's all about your metabolism, which is practically non-existent. Must check thyroid, otherwise, iodine and liver cleansing should help. You may also need Iron.

Adrenals don't have all that much to do with body temp. Adrenals are all about the flight-or-fight syndrome. Do you have cravings for salt?

Cleanse the liver thoroughly, get enough iodine and zinc, oh and the Potassium Broth is good too, and the weight will fall off.

Have you by chance been taking B6 for a long long time?
