G'Day Shelley,

I am asking this advice for my father (he is in his 60s) who has been to ER the past two days with extreme pain around his kidney region. He had scans done and no stones showed up plus he had urine tests which showed slight traces of blood. The pain is so severe he has thrown up and also been reduced to tears (very unlike him). The pain returned at the same time each day around 3pm.

He had live blood analysis recently and was put on a cleansing, anti-Candida diet and for the most part has stuck to it. He has been on this diet about 2 months. He is moderately over weight but is losing due to the diet. He suffers from very bad breath and foot odour all his life, plus strong body odour. He tends to get low blood pressure. He has a growth just inside his ear which is a form of cancer and his GP has given him some cream to use (about a month ago).

That is about all I can tell you about his health for now although I am going to go through his live blood tests on the phone with my mother soon. I would love some advice for the pain for starters as the tablets the hospital gave him have done little. I am going to print out your FAQ on kidney management also for him although no one is 100% sure it is his kidneys. Any further advice or ideas what is wrong with him?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Melanie! Oh dear, your poor uncle. Sad

The symptoms certainly sound kidney related, changes in blood pressure, bad breath and body odor can be kidney related too.

Definitely do what you can to acidify his urinary system - cranbery juice, vitamin C, the kidney drink, etc.

But I need the pain described more fully. Where exactly is it - describe as in where exactly, whether it shoots down his legs or refers anywhere, whether the pain is increased by pressing on his abdomen, whether there's any pain while urinating, whether it stops suddenly, whether heat helps. Is it burning, hot sharp knives, or muscle spasm type pain? How long have the 3pm attacks been happening? do they happen at any other time? How long is that after his last meal?

G’Day Shelley…

Thank you so much for your help. I just spoke to my father on the phone and that is what he has to say.

Pain mainly from right hip and lower back and seems to go to the front groin too. Also pain has gone down back of right leg. After morphine shot pain became more concentrated to the 4 inches down from his waist to the right hip again. Only time he has similar pain to this was when he was young and had his appendix out, sharp “stitch” like pain but continual does not fluctuate. He is getting chest pain but had his heart checked out and everything is fine, also cold sweats for no reason any time of the day. He ate about midday and the pain starts at 3pm, has not eaten anything different than usual and is on a healthy diet (anti-Candida). He is drinking loads of spring water.

He also suffers from “pins and needles” in his feet and hands which has bothered him for years. He said he has had this pain before years ago and went to hospital once, but the pains were not at 3pm they were at night when he had a shower. He also has used a kidney belt with a rolled up bandage to put extra pressure on the area of pain to alleviate the pain but it didn’t work this time. He said it doesn’t hurt to urinate.

I hope this makes enough sense for you, and you may have some advice I can give him.

Okay, the sense that I'm getting from all this is a total build-up of issues due to his age, weight and just letting things go until now. If we don't take care of everything when we're 40 we suffer when we're 70, that's for sure.

First off, kidney stone scans are not entirely accurate when the patient is overweight. So we can't assume that the scans are right. Plus a stone can get caught in the tubes leading to the bladder rather than the actual kidney, and that's when they're really acutely painful. So definitely have him drink the kidney drink rather than plain water, and marshmallow root tea to lubricate his entire urinary system.

He may have tissues and nerves that have been compromised due to several factors - lack of B12, skin food and herniated disks. Since B12 shots are safe, I'd recommend that he get one right away. B12 deficiency would explain his recurring pain/tingling in extremeties too. A herniated disk would explain why a kidney belt helped the pain, because it would have supported the back some. So he should consult with a chiropractor or someone similar, have them take a full spine x-ray.

Has his thyroid been checked? does he have adult-onset diabetes?

He definitely needs to keep up his circulation (cayenne), skin food and electrolytes. He may have a blood clot/arteriosclerosis somewhere that is blocking circulation at a crucial point.

If he's a smoker, or worked around toxins and metals, that could be part of it too. Did they check for lead poisoning, things like that?

The cancer points to his having a very extreme lack of good minerals such as potassuim, calcium, magnesium and trace minerals. Miracle II would be a big help here, as would potassium broth, Bieler broth, colloidal minerals.

If he tends to form a lot of placque on his teeth, then he needs Liquid Phosfood.

Hope that helps!

My father recently had more extensive tests for his Kidneys and they found no signs of stones. Although since the last post he has followed up your advice and has not had an attack of kidney pain since.

There are red blood cells in his urine though but nothing dramatic. He suffers from Candida and leaky gut so I had him purchase some Glutamine which he is taking. He has stuck (for the most part) to his anti-Candida diet for a few months and I can see his health improving. The doctor is going to test for calcium???? in his Kidneys?

Since he has been off dairy his body odour (which was severe even just after a shower) has started to disappear, can this be related to the Kidneys or is that related to Candida or toxicity?

He works in the building industry with steel fabrication for over 25 years so he has been exposed to a lot of metals on site.

Dairy causes bad body odor if a person is lactose intolerant. Bad breath is often the first symptom of lactose intolerance. Some of us simply don't produce lactase, the enzyme needed to digest milk sugars, and must only eat fermented milk products (or no milk products at all sometimes) from then on.

Ah, steel fabrication! lordy that's a lot of toxins.

I'm so glad he hasn't had another attack! whew! Smile
