OK..not sure if it was garlic or a cold...
I ate at my friends the night I was leaving to the airport to see Jeff..well she made a potato dish with 1/2 a jar of garlic in it and a chix dish with the other 1/2...within the hour my throat was soar sp? (brain fart) and felt like a cold the whole week..then a week from that Jeff ordered garlic parm wings...a LOT of garlic..and the same exact thing happened...so now I am afraid to eat garlic...it is still lingering..have the cough with mucus coming up but will not come all the way up...you know the end of a cold type cold..I guess it is coming from the lungs.
OK..I found some links with the same reactions...so it was an allergy..

Garlic is an antibiotic and very high in sulphur, which certain body types are very sensitive to. It's a medicine in high doses and you're certain to have a reaction.

How long can a reaction last. Now I just have a cough that wakes me up in the middle of the night that chokes me and my throat is sore on and off, it usually is more sore at the end of the night and is fine in the morning. I have thick nasal drip, well not really a drip just stuck there and will not come out. It seems to be getting better but not sure if it is just allergies now from whatever. I haven't had garlic in a while, except for some salsa I had the other day which I believe had garlic in it. How long would something like this last from a large dose of garlic that I had over a week or 2 ago. If it were strep throat would that be getting worse? Cause someone said strep is really painful and my throat doesn't hurt that much and it isn't constant. My be I will try benydril sp? and see if that helps. I have been spraying oil of oregano with water in my nose and drinking acv but not a lot.

The effects of the garlic will only last as long as the garlic is in your system, w hich is less than six hours. After that it's your body's mess that's causing it. Have you flushed your sinuses with a neti pot? It's' one of the "must haves" that Americans never know about but Europeans do. We buy and buy and suffer, they just use the sinucleanse and never suffer, always save their money! For a chronic sinus problem, thoroughly cleanse the liver and bowels and avoid mucus forming foods.

Ok. Thank you. Yes I believe it is sinus cause I have a slight pain on the left side and up the ear a little, it only hurts when I swallow. I still do smoke cigs..I know bad..but right now I can't or not ready to quit and I never had a problem with smoking with the throat before. Since I still have some nasal drip I would def. be sinuses, and it is getting better. I have to get back on track with my eating too. I am going to steam the sinuses along with my oil of oregano spray tomorrow. Tonight I did a epsom salt bath. Thank you again.. I will keep you posted.

Ah, okay: tips for people who smoke: get the brand, I think it's called American Spirit? that is nothing but tobacco, no accelerants. You can find them at specialty tobacco stores. They're so much better for you than regular ciggies.
Be sure to breathe steam occasionally, drink hot beverages with ginger, and keep the bowels and liver clean so the lungs and sinus/throat don't get backed up.
Get those Footpad cleansing things and use them every night for a week, one week out of three or four at least. Take Emergen-C and NYF a little more often than I recommend in general.
Smokers need to do a little bit extra than other people. |
