Hi Shelley,
I really need your help. My adorable 4.5yo daughter is showing signs of early maturation and I am at a loss. I think it stemmed from a 8-12 month period of her having pediatrician recommended soy formula (she did not tolerate milk formula) between 1-2yrs. At that time I was still nursing but used the formula to supplement (I nursed for 2yrs and we all had an organic diet..bar the formula..so my heart is breaking). At that time I noticed breast buds and immediately stopped the formula (the only processed food she had!) and saw a pediatrican. The buds disappeared within a couple of weeks and never reappeared. I researched on WestonA Price Foundation's site for advice to reverse the effects....and there is nothing.
Any advice? I will do anything to cleanse her of the soy damage.
In hope JQ |

Oh dear that is scary for you! But don't worry, bodies are good at maintaining homeostasis (until we screw it up) and once the known agent has been removed from the diet, all will be well in time. It would be wise to get her a complete physical and especially check out liver activity, as excess estrogen can cause liver damage. Livers, however, can regenerate if caught soon enough so no worries if the tests show elevated values. A safe and sane liver supporting diet would also be good.
Hope that helps! |

Dear Shelley,
Thank you very much for your reassuring reply! I feel much more empowered now and the comments about the liver is a good reminder...you once wrote a detailed paper on the importance of the liver on the Yahoo health webgroup a few years back...I'll track that down as it was excellent.
I had removed the offending pediatrician soy formula 3yrs ago...after only 5 months of use...so it seems the soy formula is very toxic and the estogenic agent is still sitting in the liver and needs cleansing out. My daughter's diet is actually very good..she was breast fed for 2 whole years, eats organic, fruits and veg, water, diluted juices and organic rice milk only (no soy ever)...zero soda, trans fats and minute amounts of 'processed' foods ie whole wheat pasta, all natural fish fingers! As suggested I'll focus on supporting and cleansing the liver!
Many many heartfelt thanks
