Hi Shelley
Ali has been taking Taurine as you suggested and I've ordered her Now Foods Iron supp. She's doing a protein shake 5-6 times a week with two eggs. She likes it
I'm cooking her lots of beans and pulses and she's taking Udo's. Get this. She ate Salmon!!! It was a bit of a tough one for her but I helped her see it's all God and all good. She didn't digest it great obviously so I suggested maybe a small amount of pinapple juice in water before eating it for the bromelain. Maybe better to take an enzyme supp? How about raw ACV with her meal?
Iron: Her doc gave her iron supps and wants her to take 60mg a day. Is this too much? She's 5' 4" and about 126-130lb.
I'll be sure to keep you updated on her next period.
thanks! |

pineapple, supplement, whatever is at hand, best to cycle.
60 mg of iron is a therapeutic amount. It's fine for anemia. Problem is, he probably prescribed something that is just iron and nothing else, no safe laxatives or other things that feed the blood?
Sounds great! |

| No, you're right. He didn't recommend any of the stuff you've recommended, but we did some research and she's taking iron bisglycinate right now until the Now Foods one arrives. Is it safe to take enough of the Now supp to supply 60mg or best to take a couple of those and make up the iron with the bisglycinate? I'm concerned she'll be taking too much of the other ingredients in the Now Foods iron. |

| Good call. Let her find out her tolerance with both supplements and in combination. Just one of the NOW paired with one of the prescription iron should be fine, altho that's a lot of iron all at once. Maybe the NOW one in the morning and the prescription in the evening? |

Shelley,
I've got it all wrong The doc has her taking two of the 65mg tab a day! 130mg or iron! Surely that's too much? Incidently she's starting to feel much better and had her second bit of salmon on saturday. The pinapple juice helped her digest it well. |

| Therapeutic doses of iron can get really really high so no worries there. After a week or so she might want to take just a little bit of manganese, that boosts it even better, and she might want to take a cal-mag-zinc because iron tends to antagonize these. |

| Thats great. I wasn't overly worried cos she's doing so much better. I'll be sure to tell her about the other stuff. I have calmag fizz in the cupboard so will get her on that. |
