|
|
Hi Shelley, I go to school from 8:00am to like 3:00pm and im having trouble finding something to eat since im on the candida diet, I've been taking an apple to school, and some kefir mixed with some almond milk, but I get hungry, and have to wait till I get home cause I can't really eat anything from school, plus the kefir is kind of expensive =/
Do you know of anything I could buy, some kind of snack, or I don't know, I used to take sandwiches, but can't eat bread right? Not even brown rice bread? With like almond butter or something??
There's no where to heat food, so can't take anything that would need to be heated.
BTW, today is barely my 6th day. |

| You could buy a good thermos and take just about anything in there! Kichadi, congee, soup, alternative pasta. Just get one with a wide mouth so its easy to get the food in and access it with your eating utensils. Shelley's got a good post about taking lunch to work/school in a thermos in the vital kitchen forum. Or a salad? |

| Maybe a salad, the thermo thing is kinda complicated, but it's still a good idea, thanks! |

Snacks are difficult to come by on the candida diet. I used to live on jicima, carrots and celery sticks a lot of the time, beefing them up with some sort of dip such as tahini. I also liked having cold lentil/bean salad, brown rice or quinoa pasta salad, albacore salad, sardines (I'm strange, I actually like sardines).
Thermos meals are a great solution, well worth trying. Once you get used to them it's just pour stuff in, eat 3 hours later, or fix before you go to sleep and take with you the next morning... |

| oh yes, tahini is fine. It's safest to make it yourself in a food processor, but check your local health food store. I usually get it from Trader Joe's, along with the other middle-eastern dip, the name of which escapes me now, the one made from garbanzo beans. Yummy stuff! |

Great, im gonna go to my local trader joes and buy some tahini =]
One more thing, do you think brown rice bread with some almond butter is fine? I read your threads and it says bread that is gluten free is fine, so is almond butter, but is this after the first month, or the first month? Maybe I can prepare the almond butter with some cinnamon so I won't have any problems?
Thanks Shelley, you have helped me so much! |

| That's a tough one to call, all I can say is it would definitely give some people difficulties, so drink some ginger/peppermint tea first and keep the portions small! |

Ok thanks.
BTW, I tried that cake(the one that has iron/minerals) and it's so good!
I know I was supposed to wait till the first month, but I couldn't help it. |

Yeah, it's good.
I was gonna make it again but need some stevia, gonna buy some tommorow jeje, looks like it didn't affect me(the cake), and if it did, not in a bad way. My face is still getting better *knock on wood*
BTW, can we eat granola on the second month?
And when can we start adding whole wheat bread and whole wheat food in general? do you think it would be safe after the 3rd month? |

Granola is on the list of things you think are good for you but really are not. It's always a cheat, leads to a net loss rather than gain nutritionally.
I have no problems with wheat bread but other people do, you have to try it and see. It should be okay but some people are sensitive to gluten.

hmm, love granola, I'll just keep avoiding it, alteast for the first 3 months.
So, can I try to introduce wheat bread back into my diet now and see what happens? Let's say I try sourdough bread, how do I know if it's doing bad for me, if acne comes back, or? |

| Do the pulse test (see FAQ) and make note of any symptoms. |

Hi, I've been taking HCL and I think there has been more improvement with my digestive system, but was just wondering, what is the best way to take HCL?
I mean, before a meal, after, or during the meal?
thanks |
