| hello all, ive had my grains for a while now and they have multiplied beyond what i need. what do you all do with the extra? for now, i took half and put them in a ziplock bag filled with extra kefir and put them in the freezer. is that ok, and how long can they survive like that? |

I've stored some extra grains in the freezer before...just put them in a bag with a little extra milk. I only kept them there for maybe 2 months. They actually made good kefir right away once thawed; I had thought it might take a couple of batches.
Since no one in my family will touch the kefir, I decided that whenever I had extra grains, I would eat them - no sense accumulating a bunch of grains. They taste kind of weird and rubbery, but I like them!

Eat them!...Doms web site explains that people eat the grains with added benefits.
