I just saw a commercial for Wendy's about their "fresh, never frozen" hamburgers.

In the old days, that would have sounded great. And in fact, Wendy's was voted best quality beef by Consumer Reports back in '96.

But fast-forward ten years, including several E.coli outbreaks and mad cow disease, not to mention a lot more awareness about parasites, and suddenly it sounds ... not so great.

If you're going to indulge in fast-food hamburger, it would be nice to know it had been frozen the recommended two weeks in order to kill all the baddies. After all, safety before taste.

Lately when I need a really fast protein meal without a kitchen handy I've been getting Carl's Junior's 6 dollar burgers. I don't know if it's frozen or not, I figure I'm taking a risk and drink lemonade with it to help ensure that my stomach acids can kill off anything in it. So far so good!

What do you all think?

I'd agree. I actually take a little pill box of Papaya Enzyme chewables and Hydro-Zyme with me (Betaine HCl and B-6) in my purse wherever I go. There are times when I will have to eat out and I usually go for things like the $6 burger, too, if it's fast food. Of course, I'm just a huge fan of hamburgers in general. Or I try to stick with spicier fair like Chipotle or Baja Fresh. That way the peppers can burn off the baddies.

Oh yeah, Chipotle is great. It's my other fast-food choice. I get the beef - of course! Wonderfully spicy!!!

Yep, same here! Then I load on one of the spicier salsas and breathe fire on people for the next hour.
