Hello I am 51 been in menopause for going on my second year. Have never been on HRT. Trying to get through this without meds. But for the last couple months have been having alot of real bad nites. Hot flashes and nite sweats are keeping me from getting a good nites rest so I arise in the morning as tired if not more tired then I was when I went to bed. I have absolutly no energy nor motivation. Which really sucks because I do not feel like doing anything, and its christmas and I am soon to have a new grandbaby. Please if someone can give me any help at all here it will truely be appreciated.
Thank- you in advance

If you want to respect your body entirely and this natural cycle, then there are lots of things you can be doing with diet, exercise and herbs.
Vitex is an essential herb for balancing hormones. Julia Chang has a tincture of it called "Fem-Mate" at www.sensiblehealth.com.
It's important to make sure your other hormones are at a healthy level, particularly the thyroid, so do get physicals regularly.
You should do comprehensive cleansing of every system, take care of any nutritional deficiencies and support the Adrenals and Thyroid.
Menopausal flushing and night sweats are usually caused by: Low manganese, high potassium, high calcium, low copper, low biotin, low Vit B4, high Vit B6, high Vit C, low isoflavones, low bioflavonoids, low zinc.
Other herbs that help are: black cohosh, dong quai, sage, chaste tree, vervain, motherwort, astragalus, devil's claw.
Hope that helps! |

I was just looking through a vegetarian magazine I get, altho I am not vegetarian, I love some of their recipes. anyway I seen an ad from emerita for menopause plus formula, it contains red clover extract (flowering tops)
eleuthero (root)
dandelion (root)and (leaf)
alfalfa (leaf)
Black Cohash Extract(root)
Chase Tea Berry Extract(berries)
would this be a good or bad idea?I am also taking NAtive remedies Thyroid Assist as I have been diagnosed as hypothyroid. |

That should be fine. Try it and see.
If your lab tests show wonky TSH, T3 or T4, then for THAT you SHOULD be doing HRT. Thyroid hormone is ESSENTIAL to a hundred different body processes. If they're not happening, then you're literally the walking dead. No wonder you're tired and listless all the time. HRT for thyroid is completely safe, unlike estrogen, and you have to take the actual hormone, not just nutrients. Lots of people do better with Armour thyroid but I like the simplicity (one pill a day) of Synthroid. |

It is almost time for my yearly checkup and they always do the thyroid panel. I am going to ask them to do the Free T3T4 this time as they did uptake last time. If that is what is causing all this I really need to get that nipped in the bud, it is no fun feeling like this. I will also take the emerita and post an update after being onit for awhile as it says sometimes it will take up to 8 weeks to experience the full benefits.
Thank you Shelley as always your the best
