I recently posted the following on another forum and received recommendation to also post on this site. I grately appreciate any help....

I am a 25-year-old male who has been dealing with skin infections across my face, neck, and scalp since I was an early teen. I have been on antibiotics more time than not since this all began and also took 3 rounds of accutane. No dermatologist ever mentioned yeast, candida, or anything regarding probioitcs to me. Only recently have people begun to suggest that I may have a yeast problem.

The skin infections are awful; my face, neck, and scalp break out into painful cysts. It looks like drastic acne. Every time this happens my dermatologist puts me on a new antibiotic (this time Doryx) and gives me prednizone to calm the flaring down fast. I have many scars from all of these infections, as my face has taken a pounding from the infections. I am fed up!

A friend of a friend recently recommended supplementing with probiotics, milk thistle, and garlic. I would be grateful for any input regarding this advice I received. I need to get over this once and for all!

Thank you ahead for any thoughts.

Hello and welcome to the forum! Everyone here is recovering from the same bad advice. Antibiotics are necessary for some things, but NOT for acne!! and Accutane can cause real problems, sigh.

Please read the posts in all the forums, and then read the FAQ. The information on Candida is all there. We all need to do the same things - increase the power of our digestion, restore the friendly bacteria that kill off the baddies, cleanse every system of our body, and eat right. Once you get clean and strong and do some liver flushes, the acne will resolve.

Thank you for the help! I look forward to having healthy skin once and for all! It looks like I need to lay off the protein powders after doing a search through your forum!

Most definitely. That stuff is crap!

Your friend put you on the right track. If you read the FAQ I mention products with those ingredients all the time in my protocols for cleansing each system and restoring balance. I try to recommend the cheapest, most effective, most convenient. For instance, instead of just Milk Thistle, get Planetary Formula's Bupleurum Liver Cleanse. It has MT, but also other herbs that dredge the liver out. Garlic - just cook with it. Probiotics, buy or make kefir, take live acidophilus, ignore the expensive stuff that isn't refrigerated, none of it works apart from Primal Defense, which is so expensive and doesn't repopulate the gut, so I don't like to recommend it.

Thank you thank you thank you for your help! I am extremely afraid to get off of the antibiotics, because I have seen how disastrous that can be for my skin but hopefully I'll be good to go with my new knowledge. Merry Christmas!
