|
|
Hi All...
Here is the web address where my Wife and I get our Stevia...
www.steviacanada.com
We tried a few different brands. Some with "Cutting" agents added like;FOS/Chickory.
One day curiosity got the better of me. I wondered about the possible difference in Quality/Flavour + Price =Overall value- of the various retail brands of Stevia.
So firstly,I read up about Stevia...
Found that; Most Brands of Stevia use only 1 part of the Stevia Shrub Leaf called Steviosides(There are 3 other parts/Chemicals that can be used.) Steviosides have a slight bitter tang/taste (increasing with concentration) However the other 3 Chemicals dont have ANY Bitterness added !! These are the Elixier of the Plant..Although 2 of these remaining last Chemicals occur in too small a quantity to be utilizable.Leaving the "King"..Of the Stevia plant`s ingredients..Called; "Rebaudioside A" ..
This has NO before/After taste...and at; www.seviacanada.com you can buy THE Purest/Highest concentrated/ratio of this ingredient anywhere!!(%80 Rebaudioside A.
N.B. Steviosides are what the Japanese give to their Dogs and Cats.
The Japanese after more than 30 years use - with their discerning palletes- only use Rebaudioside A.
P.S.Guess who SteviaCanada`s biggest customer is ...Japan! |

| I just bought 16oz. of stevia powder on eBay for about $18.00! The seller seems vary reliable and he said it comes straight from China. There are no fillers, no pesticides, etc...just straight stevia. He's got a eBay store called Anthony's Herbs and Spices, and he sells A LOT of bulk herbs for cheap. I'm always looking for the best deal and so far this has been it...just thought I'd share. |

It depends on what you want to do with it.
I like the liquid for sweetening drinks, you can easily get to know how much is to your liking and that way it doesn't take up much counter space.
For baking it's best to go for the stuff that is mixed with a filler so you don't have to convert your recipes.
And of course the individual packets are convenient for traveling. |

I bought some of those individual Stevia sachets once. 'NOW' brand. Got them from iherb.com
They were horribly bitter - quite nasty actually. Had to bin them.
Anne, if you manage to get any sweet tasting stuff from the U.K., let me know. In the meantime, I'm using xylitol - I love the taste. |

OK, though I don't think it's available in the UK is it? I think ebay.com will be the best bet |

You can get it here Anne. http://www.godshaer.co.uk/stevia.htm
I bought my wheatgrass juice from him
I wonder how many of his herbs are going to be outlawed by the EU directive? |

| No, the one I bought was from www.iherb.com - it was in crystal form .. urgh! It was the most horrid taste. I've heard so many say it's nice, I must have got a bad batch. |

Oh, you already told me where you got yours from my short-term memory is shot today, feeling bad, will ask Shelley later what the problem could be. Not sure if it's to do with the enema yesterday or the fact that I had 2 small tins of salmon....maybe there is mercury in the fish? |

| I read that it'd be good to eat salmon with a bunch of cilantro to make sure metals are pushed out asap from any potential source. |
