Does anyone have any experience using Coconut Oil?

I keep reading good reports & started taking 2 capsules w. ea. meal- advertised as 'coconut oil "diet"' for about 2 wks. - have not really noticed much of an effect.

Thanks for any input-

Please do a search. We've discussed this a lot in various places. Lots of people swear by coconut oil, however, it depends on your blood type too, and how strong your metabolism is. Start out with just a teaspoon.

You take coconut oil in capsules?! I love coconut oil and is great in many recipes. I have a great experience with cocounut oil from Tropical Traditions ( http://www.tropicaltraditions.com ). It's a way better price that from Garden of Life. It's made from Organic cocnuta, using the old method(cold) of extraction that was used in Phillipenes for ages. Make sure to get the virgin one, not expeller pressed.

Yes, you should actually cook with it and eat it, don't get th stuff in a pill EVER. NO OILS should come in a pill. They die fast.

What is wrong with expellar pressed? The coconut oil I've been using is by Spectrum and it is expellar pressed organic coconut oil. It's the ONLY coconut oil sold at the store in my town and I don't do online shopping. Should I ditch the coconut oil until I can find virgin, non-expellar pressed coconut oil? Am I completely messing up everything I've been working toward by using this stuff? Now I am worried . . .

From what I know expeller pressed oils can be tricky. In Europe expeller pressed oils are better because manufacturers can't exceed a certain temperature, but in US it's totally messed up. With coconut oil you'll propably be allright, as it is not likely to go rancid at higher temperatures. However fragile omega 3 oils(flax)could be rancid. Personally I haven't had any bad experience with cold-expeller pressed oils.

For what it's worth, I've used the Spectrum organic virgin coconut oil since last year, it's never produced any negative reactions for me.

Thanks Ryan D. I guess I was worried that maybe it would negatively affect cholesterol, inflammation, and such. I'm glad to hear you've had a positive experience.
