|
|
Most of us have acne (not hives but actual face acne) due to over-indulging in sweets and chocolate. One of the side-effects of refined sugar metabolism and chocolate is a depletion of B vitamins (which is why Skin Food is so important) but also the depletion of chromium.
Chromium is essential to carbohydrate metabolism. A lack of chromium leads to acne, high cholesterol (elevated serum cholesterol is actually created more by sugar than oil) and hypoglycemia (sugar blues).
The therapeutic dose of chromium for adults is 200 mcg of chelated chromium. This can be taken safely on a daily basis for 2-4 weeks, but should not be taken for a longer period, as overdosing on minerals is serious trouble. An overdose of chromium can lead to arthritis, although the correct amount will often cure arthritic pain.
During the Crusades, one of the plagues supposedly visited on the Crusaders was boils and sores. Egyptian Priests were blamed, but in reality, the Crusading soldiers were brought down by over-indulging in Egypt's rich sugar cane fields, which the soldiers had never seen before and found to be mighty tasty. The sugar made their skin so susceptible to yeasts and molds, acne and hives, that they had to turn back or risk losing limbs to ulcers.
So if your dietary history includes lots of refined sugar and chocolate, and you're trying to get rid of your acne, consider supplementing chromium for 2-4 weeks. Keep it on hand when you're done with the therapeutic dosages, and take it the day after partaking of chocolate or sugary cheats. It will help ensure that your skin doesn't erupt.
Hope that helps! |

I use this whenever I have too much sweet stuff!
I dont really have acne, but it cant hurt to use as a band aid
If one was to overdose, what would the body do to remove the excess?
Ive been getting slightly concerned about trying to find balance in my mineral supplements. Especially iron and my calmagzinc, I dont really have any dairy or lots of iron rich foods.
Anyway, thanks as always Shelley! |

the body has several systems to prevent overdose. The first line of defense is to simply stop creating "entry points" or cells that grab onto it. It then just passes through or is excreted by the kidneys.
Read www.acu-cel.com, it will tell you the symptoms of chromium overdose. Anytime you take lots of vitamins or more than RDA you shoul dhave a list of the overdose symptoms at the ready so you can be aware and adjust as necessary. |

| For maintenence periods of good health, definitely. But once you're symptomatic it's a good idea to make sure and take RDA doses for a month, or therapeutic doses for 2 weeks. |
