The days are getting cooler - I love this time of year. California doesn't get the autumnal colors, we get blustery Santa Ana winds instead, but after all the hot sun days it's a relief to just cool off and get out the sweaters.
Now is the time for slightly heartier fare. My appetite is increasing in response to the cold. I'm reducing the amount of raw fruits I eat and instead take advantage of the October pie sale at Marie Calendar's - blueberry and apple are fantastic dinners! Sweet potato and pumpkin are also nice.
I also need more protein now that I'm teaching and so active, and so my lunchtime meal is often tuna salad (I make mine with red bell pepper, celery and green onions) or sliced turkey and provolone cheese.
I've been relaxing with the new fall TV shows - old favorites are returning yippee! like "Desperate Housewives," "My Name is Earl," and "Gray's Anatomy," and some new ones like "Heroes" and "Six Degrees" have caught my interest. Thank goodness for DVR's and Tivo's. I just love fast-forwarding through commercials, altho I do like that one commercial with Audrey Hepburn dancing around.
Too bad movies have gotten so bad - when's the last time we've had a really great movie? Well, "Little Miss Sunshine" was very very funny, but it's an indie, not a blockbuster type movie. I think Hollywood's days are over. They just don't understand story anymore and aren't putting forward any fresh new talent. I mean, do we really need to see another John Travolta or Nick Cage film?
The toughest challenge I'm facing right now is changing my biological rhythm. I'm having to get up around 5:45 am and that's not easy for me to do. I'm a NIGHT person!!! Even with the help of a little bit of caffeine (just one Classic Coke or green tea) my body wants to crash at about 3:00 pm, which is when I'm stuck in freeway traffic, and then I get a second wind and want to stay up all night. I just am not good about getting to sleep before 10:30. It doesn't FEEL right.
So that's what's new with me! what's new with you???

Hey Shelley,
Glad to hear you are doing better.
Yes, no good movies out there. Either they are remakes of the old classics or horror. I do want to see the animated one called "open season" I could always use a good belly shaker.
I do love watching my CSI (all 4 nights) I type them all then watch them on Sat. with hubby instead of renting movies. I also love watching Gilmore Girls (which alot of people don't like) and 7th Heaven. Also Crossing Jordan and Bones.
Anyway, it was nice to chat and share.
Thank you
Beachbum

Hey Shelley,
I know what you mean about those Santa Ana winds..I lived in the High Desert for 22 years and I do NOT miss them I saw many roofs end up in the street when those suckers would whip through.. yikes!
Thankfully New England is full of fall colors this time of year. I love being here this time of year, though I could definitley do without the impending snow of winter I do enjoy the first few snows. How peaceful and quiet it is while watching it fall.. but as the winter wears on and the heating bills pile up, and the inches of snow to be shoveled pile up, I start to long for the California winters of short sleeves and warm sun during the day. Maybe I should go back to Texas?
Right now I am hooked on Grey's Anatomy also. I almost threw out my t.v. when they cancelled Ed and then Everwood, but I have since found Men in Trees and How I met your Mother, so I am still good. Other than that, I have no time for TV and I like it that way. I just took a part time job at a DayCare center on the days my 4 year old isnt in preschool (T,TH ) and that has been very fulfilling. My 6 year old and my 4 year old are all wrapped up in Soccer right now so that is also keeping us busy.. that and PTA and school events. Fall is a very busy time when you have 2 school aged kids. I am sort of looking forward to the slowing down and adjustment faze at this point. There is such thing as too busy
Anyway, thanks for keeping us posted on whats happning with you. I hope that your jobs continue to go well.
Blessings,
Staci |

| Well I just returned to my home in Utah after a long exhausting season of running my diner in Montana. I am happy to sleep in until 6:00 am instead of dragging out at 4:30 am. Getting to bed at 9:00 pm instead of just finishing up work. My days are spent finishing up bookwork but it is nice. It was starting to get very cold in Montana and I was missing the gentle winters of Utah. TV? hmmm well I am back to watching my favs CSI and SVU. It is hard to get back into the tv thing after working seven days a week from 5 am to 9 pm. Am glad to hear everything is going good for everyone. |

Stacirae,
The url is not good. Try editing it with a proper one.
Thanks,
