Hi Shelley ... I hope that u r well, happy and still writing ur book !!

I was on the following site today.
http://www.drlam.com/A3R_brief_in_doc_format/Estrogen_Dominance.cfm#9

Here's one of the parts that realy caught my attention !!

Estrogen Dominance/The Silent Epidemic

1. Commercially raised cattle and poultry. These animals are fed estrogen-like hormones as well as
growth hormone that are passed onto humans

2. Commercially grown fruits and vegetables
containing pesticides.

3. Exposure to xenoestrogen. These fragile ovarian
follicles are extremely sensitive to the toxicity of environmental pollutants.

4. Industrial solvents. These chemicals enter the
body through the skin, and accumulated quickly in the lipid-rich tissues such as myelin
(nerve sheath) and adipose (fat).

5. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). HRT with estrogen alone without sufficient opposing
progesterone such as the drug Premarin should be banned.

6. Over production of estrogen. Excessive estrogen can arise from ovarian cysts or tumors.

7. Stress. Stress causes adrenal gland exhaustion and reduced progesterone output.

8. Obesity. Fat has an enzyme that converts adrenal steroids to estrogen.

9. Liver diseases. Liver diseases such as cirrhosis from excessive alcohol intake reduce the breakdown of estrogen.

10. Deficiency of Vitamin B6 and Magnesium. Both of these are necessary for the neutralization of estrogen in the liver.

11. Increased sugar, fast food and processed food. Intake of these leads to a depletion of magnesium.

12. Increase in coffee consumption. Caffeine intake from all sources was linked with higher estrogen levels
regardless of age, body mass index.
Tea is not much better as it contains about half the amount of caffeine as compared to coffee.

Common Estrogen Dominance Conditions

- Endometriosis
- Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)
- Fibrocystic Breast
- Pre-menopausal Syndrome
- Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
- Fibroids
- Breast Cancer

Reading all this is quite depressing !!
Would u say this is accurate or grossly exxagerated ??
Sad

Question:
What would u say is the most important thing we can do for ourselves in order to lower the estrogen
in our bodies besides staying away from estrogenic foods/herbs, exercising, no coffee,
detoxifying the liver, start taking milk thistle (Silybum marianum) and reduce stress !!!
... etc ??

Question:
What test(s) can I ask my doctor/gynacologist to perform that will give me an "accurate" result of my hormone levels ?
Would u also advise to have the adrenal gland, the thyroid gland, and the ovaries tested ??
Is there a best time of the month to have this done?

Thanks so very much Very Happy

I'm working on a list of how to avoid common, nearly-invisible toxins, such as never buying new furniture and never refinishing old furniture. Other than that all you can do is to cleanse the liver and avoid the obvious no-no's such as progesterone cream, tofu, extreme stress, being an adrenaline junkie...

Why is using progesterone cream an obvious no-no? I've heard of the other no-nos like soy, but never not to use the progesterone cream.

Most doctors recommend progesterone supplementation for the wrong reason. It just sends you on an endless spiral into more imbalance. Better to do a total liver cleanse.

Are u really saying that in general "ANYTHING" that gets the blood
flowing/pumping can be considered problematic for excess estrogen
??...
What about running ... vigorous exercise ??
People that r in a constant state of excitement... hyper, bubbly ... etc

Goodnight and
Thank -u againSmile

Anything that taxes the adrenals, yes. Running, however, relaxes the adrenals. As long as you run after you've been stressed, you won't age due to stress.

Depends on why they're bubbly. Some people are just neurotic, in a constant state of "something's not right with my world" and overcompensating. They will suffer and age quickly. Truly happy people just don't age as fast. They get laugh lines and that's about it. Smile
