Hey Shelley,
Does liver flushing help with keratosis pilaris?
Thanks,

Perhaps. It involves an inability to use fats correctly and keritinization, which means lack of Vitamin A. If you have other symptoms that indicate congested liver then by all means flush, we should do liver maintenance once or twice a year same way we change the filters in swimming pools and fish tanks. But you don't necessarily have to flush so much as dredge the liver, which you can do with diet and herbs - see the FAQ.
For your issue I'd try the Liver Cleansing Carrot Salad, eat that every day, take cod liver oil and zinc and B vits and C/E (Emergen-C is great for this), and do Lymph Management - sweating, detox baths and dry skin brushing. You may want to consider doing a Vitamin C Flush - it's very easy, you simply drink a lot and take 500 mg of Vit C every one or two hours for a day or two.
Sweating is very important for skin health, and with our modern lifestyles we just don't sweat daily like we should. This has to be addressed and balanced - the sweat bath and saunas are great for that. And exercise of course.
After bathing, use coconut oil or pure sesame oil (not toasted) or avocado (recipe for skin in Kitchen forum) and massage into the affected areas and any other particularly dry areas.
Hope that helps! |

Thanks, Shelley.
I think I have a congested liver. I think. I am 27, have acne and hormonal issues. In fact, I was prepping for my liver flush for about 5-7 days with 1-2 tbsp of lecithin a day and had spotting the entire time I took the lecithin. That seems indicative of liver problems, right?
I take cod liver oil every morning first thing, and eat carrots/olive oil/lemon every day, though perhaps I should take them together.
I take Emergen-C a few times a week though I don't take Zinc or B vits. I eat rare salmon a couple of times a week and usually try to get my vits through food. Maybe I should just give into supplementation.
Thanks so much!

Yep, that's liver congestion all right!
Definitely add Zinc for it helps the body acutally use the A in the cod liver oil, otherwise I doubt you need to do much vitamin supplementation. Salmon is wonderful, one of the best things you can eat. I was about to write up about eating wild river salmon.
If you can add the protein shake into your diet with extra eggs, and start juicing, you really don't need many vitamin pills. The most I ever did, apart from one disastrous experiment with megadosing, was to take just ONE of Solaray's Spectro - they recommend taking 5 a day. I took one with each large meal, which usually added up to at most 2 a day. |

Thanks, Shelley. I think I will pick up some Zinc.
I make a smoothie every morning with raw kefir, a raw egg yolk, some cinnamon and nutmeg, sometimes some lecithin, and a bit of low-glycemic fruit.
Thanks for the feedback. It's good to know I am doing good enough with my food choices and can avoid most supplementation.
Have a great day!

That's great!
You can use the whole egg in your shake. The biotin inhibitors in the white are more than offset by the massive amounts of biotin in the yolk. the white is an important protein, albumin, which is the main protein keeping our blood healthy and alive and functional. |
