| I really need to gain weight and was wondering what your opinion is on nutritional shakes like boost or ensure? Im at a point where I have to gain weight or ill end up hospitalized. I cannot eat a lot because im small and constantly feel full, i feel like im eating every 2 hours and still not gaining despite the fats im getting in through oils, nuts, butters, etc. My dietician told me to go get some boost or ensure and drink at least 2/day to get more cals in without the bulk of solid food. Im skeptical as i look at the labels and they have so much grams of sugar! Whats a girl to do? |

I have concocted my own recipes of liquid building shakes and smoothies and recommend only those. Please see the recipes in the FAQ and in here. Any of them can be turned into bulk-builders and "vitamins" by using the right ingredients. The ready-made or powders, even the ones at the health food store, all have problems.
There is one instant shake meal that I do find is okay if not overdone, and that's Megagenic's Ultra Meal, but you can only buy it from actual practitioners who sell metagenic products, unless they've gone into wider distribution lately. |
